Well got everything in. Now the problem is the flex rod is too long. I cut the brass tub down. How do I cut the flex and blue tubing around it?

I believe you said you have a dremel.Cut the flex cable down to the motor shaft.Take the collet off the motor and don't forget to leave some space between the back of the strut and the drive dog.About the width of the flex cable.

Brass tube looks to be a good length.Just enough room to remove the collet.

Don't be rushing at any of this Mason.Measure and square up 5 times and drill/cut once.

Ok sounds good. On my drive dog, there is a spacer about the size of the flex thickness. Would this work or do i still need to add more space, if i add too much, the nut for the drive dog is gunna start hitting the rudder

I am hunting for a pic but the space is for the flex as it shrinks when it spins up.new strut 031.jpgThere you go just click on it to blow it up.

I would use some wood screws from the inside.More measuring and contemplation. You're doing good. Did you put a bend in the brass tube?

You've got to make sure the tube is straight inline with the strut at the back with a slight bend up to the motor. If there is a sudden bend at the strut the flex could break there and then there goes the shaft, drive dog and prop never to be seen again.
