On 29.6v I hope its a low kv. motor. I'm turning 48,840 no load rpms. with my 2200kv motor and many feel that's foolish on my part. I know that's well below what the motor is rated at and I've had no problems with several runs on 6s but I'm curious what motor you are using. Your offset rudder standoffs seem to be doing the job as your boat ran smooth. Don't know if you will notice the same thing I do when you do finally get her to full throttle. Mine seems to settle down at the higher speeds. Let's just put it this way macdon. I know if you've kept up with my replies you'r probably tired of hearing this but I've run this hull with a 4082 2200kv motor and an x645 prop on 6s at full throttle and found her to be very stable. I think more so as the speed picks up and the boat really gets on plaine. Of course I worry some when I see a large wave in my trajectory at W.O.T. but don't we all? Hope you will be yet another happy camper when it comes to this hull.
    Hi Eco,
Im using a Keda 3660 2200kv motor and 2 x 4s 5000mah batts in parallel connection, so voltage is still 4s but 10000mah total. ESC is a Turnigy 120a and pushed by a 42mm prop.
I may have experienced the MG in just a few minutes, but it kinda felt like a quality designed hull than what Im used to. Of course, thanks to those who have shared in this thread like Scott and Shawn - I figured that sharpening the ride pads, strengthening the hull, etc. have and will continue to enhance the experience with this hull.

I am now envisioning if a better motor or changes in battery configurations will further heighten the experience even more. I've been reading about those 4082 size motors and a CC 1515/1y, might be good upgrades down the road - but will probably hike my esc to 180a or more. If you guys could recommend other motor sizes and brands, feel free to suggest.
As for batts, both Scott and Shawn enticed me to use my existing 4s batts, so I am in no position to know if the added weight (as oppose to 2 x 2s batts) have been a factor in the MG's run.
From what I can tell, the MG didnt seem that heavy and seems to go fast - but it just makes me wonder if using 2 x 2s would make MG go faster since 2s is lighter in weight than 4s. Or heck, maybe the added weight of the 4s was a contributing factor in MG's smooth running? Dunno really.
Anyway, most of my boats are deep vee/mono using a single 4s pack - so most of my batts are 4s. Naturally, I would prefer using batteries that I could use in my other boats - which also made me reluctant to purchase 2s batts.
Economically speaking thou - this suddenly hits me: buying 2 x 2s batts = 1 4s batt. So, with 2 x 2s, the MG will run. If I stick with my 4s, it would require me double the cost to run MG.
Maybe I could rubber bind 2 x 2s together, use a "Y" series connector so I can use them in my deep vees as well? ahh.....choices, choices.........

I did notice after several runs however that the hull had a crack next to one of the battery trays. Don't know if my setup was too much for the boat or if the batery managed to come in contact with the hull but that just might have been a bit too much power for that boat. B.T.W. the first time I took my Surge Crusher out I was using a 120 amp Turnigy esc and it couldn't handle the amp draw so now I use the Hobbywing 180 amp esc and my temps remain well within the safe range. I'm now using the same 180 amp esc in my MG with no issues. I also have one of these in my other MG. You may consider upgrading to one of those if you can. If you do make that upgrade I'd at least upgrade to 5.5mm plugs.
My first Cat was the surge crusher which I got a few months ago. First time I tried the boat I had soooooo much fun that I researched for a bit bigger cat - which is why I got the MG.
I was just running it stock, but instead of using 2 x 2s batts, I went for a single 4s pack positioned endwise. It really didnt give me much option in altering the CG so in calmer waters I get the porpoising action. But I didnt mind - it was a blast to run. I still cant put my finger to it, but I seem to enjoy running a cat than my deep vees hmmm?

Let me ask this question - why do you guys have more than 1 MG? Maybe I should seriously consider molding my MG hahahaha!

Well I only have the one,and it is now an MB.I enjoy building different ones so now it's a twin CF.The only problem I have with 2 2s is the packs I have are only 25c and they warm up a bit.The boat feels a little lighter too, probably wouldn't pull as many amps with the lighter weight. Thanks for the recognition.Geez, thats twice today.

Hi again macdon. Don't know about others but as for me, I just Like having a spare, just in case. Maybe that comes from my past experience with Aquacraft hulls and my surge crusher. What I can say about this hull is so far it's held up far better than the hulls I had in the past and with much more power under the hatch. This is the most solid rtr hull I've ever had. That is except for the hatch. But I can afford to have a few spare hatches at less than $18 a pice. So far I've only had to replace one due to a blowover.

If I were you I would probably use velcro straps or zip ties to hols 2 x 2s lipos together for the deep vee boats using the Y series connector option you mentioned. I think that is your better choice. Sometimes good ideas just come from nowhere don't they.

Say srislash, I like your avatar photo with your Slash pulling your boat. Any idea where someone could find a boat trailer large enough for an MG-29?

I haven't seen any for a cat yet but there are mono ones.Mmm,where did I see a bunch posted? It might've been on here.If you did a search you'd probably find someone that builds them. They aren't that hard to build unless you wanna pull the trails with them on the back.

Thanks srislash. I think it would be so cool if I could back my rc truck up to the lake to launch my boat. I'll have to see if theres anything affordable I can hook up to my truck that would work. You know what really would be cool would be to get one of those Tamiya semi tractor trailors. They are only 1/14 scale but the boat should fit on the flat bed trailors that you buy seperately. Only problem is the tractors sell for about $350 and the flatbed trailors for them sell for about $180. Right now I just don't see myself spensing that kind of money to look cool launching my boat, though it is tempting.

Quick thinking there tagasagwan. I'll do that as soon as one of my "dear friends" gives me a 55" King Of Shaves equipped with a Nem. Gold 592 motor and a Castle 200 HV Ice esc.

I'm afraid to ask how much you would charge to build one for an MG-29. You do amazing work on these. I think there may be a market for them.

Eco, I don't make them, but a few other members do. Also, a couple guys showed up at the races last sunday and said they make them as well. Hopefully we will see them again and I can get some info.

55" KOS? That's sweeeeeeeeeeeeet! I have the smaller EKOS bare hull. It will collect dust for a while that's for sure! I want to build the Skunk gen 2 first.

I don't see Macdon posting these past couple of days? Maybe he's still busy on his WWII 1/6 scale tank project? Macdon makes FG. He made my yellow 29" Dee-V hull. The canopy is his own design. That's the one in my avatar. The blue Deep-V in His avatar is also his own design. I won't be surprised if I'll get a neon yellow boat with a lizard on top this Christmas!
