I don't see Macdon posting these past couple of days? Maybe he's still busy on his WWII 1/6 scale tank project? Macdon makes FG. He made my yellow 29" Dee-V hull. The canopy is his own design. That's the one in my avatar. The blue Deep-V in His avatar is also his own design. I won't be surprised if I'll get a neon yellow boat with a lizard on top this Christmas!

Hi there tagasagwan. Yeah I know that's a sweet boat especially set up with that 592 setup. I won't hold my breath waiting on my "dear friend" though. Hmmm, that might look a lot like my neon green cat with a gecko on top. Hope you find it under your tree.

Macdon is still kinda busy so he asked me to post on this thread. He's thinking of upgrading the motor of his MG29. we're looking at the cc/neu 1515 1y 2200kv or the leopard 4082 2200kv. What's your take on this guys? do you have any other alternatives? Does anyone used these motors before on their MG29's?

                        CHIEFY_44,

Thanks for the heads up! So, what's the recommended size for the flex shaft?

I haven't upsized mine(150) as of yet but have replaced it.Some of the wires on the end were frayed and I had ground them off a bit, when I took it out it then spun out of the coupler and out the back it went with my S&B x642.Then I purchased a Aquacraft one and the flex came apart from the shaft(bad Aquacraft). Now I wait for stuff from OSE.I cannot stress this enough though:grease the flex.I do it after every day out.I usually only get 3 or so runs in on a day so it seems to be working good this way.I do it after so it doesn't sit on the shelf and corrode.I just lost one in my little mono due to the corrosion. It was in storage for 15 years so no biggy.

                            Fiberglassing the canopy

Before I re-solder the wire of my esc, I thought I'd tackle the issue with the fragile plastic canopy first - as it was getting on my nerves.
As I've read some solutions in this forum, I also thought of some options:

                            - sand the interior of the plastic canopy and apply fiberglass
                            - mold the canopy and produce a fiberglass copy

While the second option ends any problems concerning the canopy, I was still a bit hesitant as the heat generated by the curing fiberglass might peel the paint or add blemishes to a perfectly fine canopy. Besides, the neon green paint isnt exactly the easiest paint to match, so might as well prolong what isnt damaged.
However, before we sanded the interior of the canopy - an idea came to mind and I told my fiberglasser to spread wax inside the canopy instead. Since the plastic canopy is thin (about 1.5mm thick) - then it could act as a mold but just 1.5mm smaller.
So we placed gelcoat inside the canopy, applied fiberglass and when dried pulled it off. Not bad really!

You guys might be thinking that I now could run the boat with using the stock plastic canopy and make the fiberglass copy to act as an inner lid ............but nahhh, I prefer having more options thus I still went ahead in fiberglassing the interior of the plastic canopy for strength and keep the fiberglass copy either as a spare or platform to developing different looking tops!
Motor choices are vast and more often than not getting bigger - so a redesigned canopy down the road might be needed.

Good job.Options are good.Kinda wish I had changed the scoops on mine when I got it from Scott. It'd be a pain to match up a new lid now.
Scott does seem to have a line on the neon paint to match yours.

Just a thought macdon. If you look at my avatar you will see my blue Superve 27 with a yellow canopy on top.

                                30492_107105649337796_100001150847055_49869_548508_n[1].jpg

Persolally, I kind of like that look better than a full blue boat. All that to say you might consider using the fiberglass hatch and painting in a less similar color like yellow, red or orange for example. If you could make a fiberglass hatch in say yellow or orange still allowing the sub hatch to be used all the better mut even without it that would work. What I'm trying to say here is some of us might be interested in contrasting hatches for our boats. I might be one of them. It would be great if you could paint windows in a metalic bronze, copper or metalic blue... Ive done this on some of my truck bodies and it looks great. It would be nice to be able to have options for the looks of our boats. What do you think?
