Hi Eco,
Im using a Keda 3660 2200kv motor and 2 x 4s 5000mah batts in parallel connection, so voltage is still 4s but 10000mah total. ESC is a Turnigy 120a and pushed by a 42mm prop.
I may have experienced the MG in just a few minutes, but it kinda felt like a quality designed hull than what Im used to. Of course, thanks to those who have shared in this thread like Scott and Shawn - I figured that sharpening the ride pads, strengthening the hull, etc. have and will continue to enhance the experience with this hull.
I am now envisioning if a better motor or changes in battery configurations will further heighten the experience even more. I've been reading about those 4082 size motors and a CC 1515/1y, might be good upgrades down the road - but will probably hike my esc to 180a or more. If you guys could recommend other motor sizes and brands, feel free to suggest.
As for batts, both Scott and Shawn enticed me to use my existing 4s batts, so I am in no position to know if the added weight (as oppose to 2 x 2s batts) have been a factor in the MG's run.
From what I can tell, the MG didnt seem that heavy and seems to go fast - but it just makes me wonder if using 2 x 2s would make MG go faster since 2s is lighter in weight than 4s. Or heck, maybe the added weight of the 4s was a contributing factor in MG's smooth running? Dunno really.
Anyway, most of my boats are deep vee/mono using a single 4s pack - so most of my batts are 4s. Naturally, I would prefer using batteries that I could use in my other boats - which also made me reluctant to purchase 2s batts.
Economically speaking thou - this suddenly hits me: buying 2 x 2s batts = 1 4s batt. So, with 2 x 2s, the MG will run. If I stick with my 4s, it would require me double the cost to run MG.
Maybe I could rubber bind 2 x 2s together, use a "Y" series connector so I can use them in my deep vees as well? ahh.....choices, choices.........
