I know this, in a previous post I said I have 35-MM to 55MM props and I have some mid-sized bronze ones too.......

So back to my original question....What XL motor should I be looking for using direct FLEX drive in a 32" mono on 16-20 cells. I'm not after run time...I'm after speed.

        Thanks!!!!

60% of the time... it works every time!

i have the same boat and i have read threads that the boat does not like to go over 40 mph i dont know why its just what i read

how fast is the boat with the 16 cell gear drive?

i think you would be good with a 12 xl on 16 cells, lower amp draw easier on your components and you can always prop up, for direct drive

i will be following this thread to see what you do, i'm looking to re power my boat as well

If you're really looking to use 16 cells and up in a 32" mono, a 10xl would do it IMO. With 16 cells that would be about 32k no load rpm at the prop. I'm running a 12xl,24 cells, 1.33:1 gears to get about 31k at the prop. This is in a 32" mono (Toysport Triton). With an M645 prop top speed has been 51.1mph. You may not need that large a prop to achieve the speed you're looking for, your setup would be lighter with only 16 cells. Hope all this helps!

Then you also want to run at least a .150 cable. Right??

Yes sir, better safe than sorry.
You'll be asking alot of the .130.
It won't take much to change it over and you'll be glad you did.

You might be able to pull the nylon stuffing tube out of it and just run the .150 cable directly in the tube. You willl need to clean it and keep it full of grease after each day of running. This is what I have been doing. Anyone else tried this?
