Wow that price for just the hull, I would spend the extra 100 and get the rtr even if I was planning on building. Have some extra parts then. I think it is only reasonable for someone wanting to get a rtr boat. Not all of us have the time or ambition to spend the resources building. And pretty much the day you get it you can be on the water. Takes me about a couple months to build one. Personally if I were going for a big boat I would build my own as I'm always wanting something more :). But this is a good looking boat for a rtr. And people have to remember that any ready to run isn't going to be a super hot set up as it I being purchased to run reliably not run on the edge of reliability. I think everyone would agree its no fun trying to get that smell out of fiberglass. The boat looks good and glad to hear it seams to have a good build to it.

They tape up ver well. What was a concern was the exhaust pipes on the rear. They allow air to circulate but wht would happen if it were to flip. Will the boat take on water. I taped the exhaust pipes to be on the safe side.

Yeah, I had the gas hull before but ran it gas so I did not need to tape anything up...

I filled my exaust holes with epoxy and also filled the air intake on the hatch. I think it was a mistake though. After about 5-6 runs the motor is close to burning up. A little smoke came up from inside after my last run. The motor was waaay too hot. Unfortunately the water cooled motor mount does almost nothing and the outrunner relies on that little bit of circulation to keep temps to a minimum.

The last time I ran the boat I had tape over the exhaust pipes. The motor temp after the run was 170 on a 85 degree day.

I just picked up the new 2.0 version of this boat... Will post pics, etc ASAP... I know there is a lot of hatred for this boat and ATOMIK products, but I love the large scale, and am just looking to cruise around... With the two lipos, it should run decent for my reasons I think...:)

Had the boat out last Sunday and it was fun to use. I ran it with two 3s in series. Then I ran it with four 3s battery's for a total of 12s. Surprisingly there was a minimal difference in speed. I was using a Garmin Forerunner 101 to monitor max speed. Max speed with four battery's was 42mph and two 3s (6s total) was 36-38mph.
One thing I did notice and I need to remember is when I turn. When turning at half to quarter throttle the boat will slide as if it is on ice. Trying to find out if this is normal or in need of tweaking. On straight aways it was awesome. I measured the boat water surface to determine the 30% point and worked from there. I had other people from the forum watch and they were impressed for the performance of a RTR.

                          Hey.
6s with two 3s in series is 22.2 volts and the boat will run ok on that,
But 4 3s packs in parallel would just be 6s 22.2 volts again and be ok again with more run time.
But now if you ran the 4 3s packs in series for 12s you would be at 44.4 volts,
And I think you and your friend would see and smell a big difference in that boat.

Yes, he is Sparky. He said he is searching for the cable for the video camera. I would never try 22.2 volts. I was comparing run time and performance with two and four batteries.

Ok that explains a lot about what you stated hear with the four 3s battery's for a total of 12s,
And in series that would be 44.4 volts just so you know.
22.2 volts is two 3s packs in series.
Hear some info you should read and share before bad things happen again.

I ran the boat with a total of 12s. Two battery's on each side in series - then parallel both sides for a total of 12s. I have no plans of exceeding 12s with this boat. I am on a budget and I am trying to work with the battery's that I have.
I know that when I run only two battery's I should have at least a 40/45c rating battery, which I do not own. All my battery's are 23/30c.
                                Thank you for the links.

I made the harness using Traxxas connectors since I have many RC trucks and cars. The Traxxas connectors on every run were cool to touch. This would tell me that they are working efficiently.
