Lipos work on the stock esc just fine however id recommend snagging a liposhield from the OSE store side. Much cheaper then buying a new esc. http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...de-liposhld-32
You can run w/o it and time your runs, but you do run the risk of possible damaging your lipos.

Also, I have one of those ESC's, I'm putting it in my Rio EP (converted to brushless), attached is a scanned copy of the card from the package. In the specifications section it states: Input Voltage: 12-14 NiMH -- 4 cells LiPo (8-20V input w/o BEC).
HOWEVER: at the bottom of the card in the "Set-up and operating instructions:" 7. WARNING: D0 NOT use this ESC with LiPo (Lithium Polymer) batteries.
Now then, I know you don't believe me, Tower Hobbies or the attached document, so do this: Call AQ's tech support department at 217.398.8970 option 5 and have one of they're tech's tell you that what I'm saying is true.
Maybe that will convince you....
I'm pretty sure the last thing Rumdog needs is tech support option 5, that guy builds some of the cleanest, fastest and sickest boats on OSE!

I had my doubts about the SVR going into this season but honestly once you get the hang of making them turn it's a pretty good ride. We're running a stock SVR class in our club. So far we're digging it. They should have called them SuperFun 27's.
One of our guys has two SV's. One for the bone stock class and one for offshore. He does very well with them. IN fact the boat currently holding down second place in offshore at our pond is that very SV. http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...2-Race-ResultsNoisy personComment

Sweet. That's a awesome move. It's def better then the re-jacked 45ampers they where selling with the first few batchs. When did they start that? The website and Tower still shows the re-jacked non-lipo 45amp esc. It seemed the 60amp was a little smoother on the throttle respose, maybe it's all in my head, but just seemed that way.Comment

I guess this will be my last response to you... you seem a little unstable, and are coming across as a little irrational... Perhaps you have the best of intentions, I can't say for sure... but I don't have time to get involved in a flame war like you appear to want here...
I think you are reading WAY more into my response than was there. I was simply explaining myself. If you want a "war" or whatever, you aren't going to get one from me. I'm simply trying to respond to the gentleman's request for RC boating options...

Back to the SV boat...
Got a friend who used to run one-- lots of fun, but it is very easy to capsize, so be sure you tape the hatch down well and have your rescue rig ready.

To be honest with you no one has suggested the minicat velocity mono. I believe they're around $200 or so and you can grab a 3s 2200 20c lipo for under $10 and a Tactic radio or other used radio in the swap shop. Lots of guys buy rtr boats but don't need the radios they come with so you can get a good deal on them. They're a BLAST and most importantly self-righting so you wouldn't need any other boats or fishing pole.
Here's mine. If interested the owner of minicatracingusa.com is a active member here on the forum and a cool guy.

In my opinion the super vee is hard to beat as an rtr but I still prefer the fastech by proboat it's a little hard to tape but handles very well and can handle the power or a cc motor I maxed mine out in the high 40s and you can upgrade the esc later on to a t120 and run the stock motor will run 5and 6s And as for desiels post and member bashing I completely agree it's getting a little out of hand and darrin and Tony and others have been very helpful to me and have never promoted the products to meComment

The fastech is a great little boat as well..............the hull "sticks" to the water like no other.
Since we're all throwing out our honest input here....................i have never seen an SV27 corner well at all..................any slight ripple and hop hop hop..................may be something about the design, but they go great straight.NEED PARALLEL CONNECTORS?? QUALITY 5.5MM, 8MM, 8 AND 10 AWG, GET THEM HERE:http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...est!&highlight=
