This guy (Billy "my names not Billy" barnacle) has the unique ability to ruin almost every thread he enters. I don't normally talk bad about other members here (normally don't have to), but this guy is a bad apple. Every post is paragraph after paragraph of nonsense. Unsubscribed.
Sorry new guy, sadly one of our not so awesome members has ruined your thread. This place is awesome though and have fun with you new boat. Make sure to checkout the sv27 section as their is some great info their. The hulls and hardware are the same on the orginal and the R. Hardware is just a different color and your comes with the port sideturn as others had to buy it seperatly on the orginal. Good luck and welcome!

I never really read anything degrading ~ THEN, all of the sudden
there is snapping back and forth.
I'm new here, but it just doesn't make sense.
I never felt pressured by any reply from Any of the above posted.
They just came across to me as personal experience and knowledge
which is what I was hoping for.

I appreciate ALL of the posts that were boat / radio / battery related!
          Thank You

I'm sorry if the first line offends any of you. I just heard that QUOTE from CARS 2, the movie, and just had to use it.

It comes with a seriously out of date 27Mhz radio system and $23.95 shipping bringing the total to $263.94 - add in another $20~$30 (or more depending on your tastes) to upgrade the radio system to 2.4GHz and your looking at just shy of $300.

Note: nothing against PB, but pretty much all 27Mhz systems are out of date - I think most forum members will agree with me on that one.
Good for an inexpensive home made rescue boat chasing down a stalled boat that's not too far from shore, but otherwise...

            JMHO
your gonna pay shipping not matter what a rtr for 239$ thats cheap and for 100$ less than retail he can buy a radio later btw when i ran this boat in rtr form with the am system i had no problems with it i only got rid of it to consolidate radios. And for any others out there you could buy the boat sell the radio for 20,esc and motor for 85 thats a neww hull and hardware for 134$ and if i hadent just purchase a lehner 1940 and schulze controller of ebay id be all over this

Kent55, when I first got bitten by the FE boat thing, I too wanted something that looked great, and the FASTech looks great. I bought that boat and ultimately I still love that boat. Having said that, I believe once when you see how great your boat( whatever it is) is running on the water, you soon forget how the looks, you would love the graceful way how the boat rides on the water. We all want you to have a great time, so naturally more experienced members want to point you to the quickest way to a satisfying all-around boat. Remember, there is no perfect boat for every whimscal wish we have. That is why most of us have quite a number of boats.
All the best wishes for your quest and above all, have fun!

                      Kent,

I have the SV27 ready to ship out. I added a few things to the boat to make it 100% unbox and go. I sealed the push rod boot it was loose and could let water in. (typical problem they don't seal them up very good at the factory). I removed the flex and put a good amount of grease on the shaft and reinstalled it. You will need to do this after about 3-4 runs. It's just like your car if you change the oil more frequently it'll last longer. the brass strut bushing will wear out really fast if you don't keep it greased. Let's see, I added floatation to the hatch incase it comes loose on the water. I've lost 2 like that. I packed the boat full of noodles for floatation and also they help keep the batteries secure in case of a crash. These things get going 40-50mph and I dont care how much velcro you have on the batts they're coming loose. I also gave ya some extra noodle so you can adjust were your battery placement is to get the best COG. I added the deans charge cord you asked about and I threw in 2 extra props on a plastic 40mm and one a metal prop that has been modified for electric boats. oh and I gave ya a few extra prop nuts (they're easy to loose). Everythings good to go.

Wow, it looks like I joined this "Club" at just the right time to buy a boat. And it also looks like I need to LEARN a LOT. I will be checking out this forum for your tips and hopefully You Tube has How To's.

I thought the 45 amp speedo went away with the original SV. The old blue can motor went away about the same time too. The R version comes with the same motor and speedo that comes in the Motley Crew boat. The hardward is a little different from the orginal SV. Very little though. The extra turn fin is new.....er. Came when the R version was released. I run the original SV hardware on one my custom Wildthings. It's not top shelf stuff but the hardware is plenty good enough.

The SV has been on the market for a while now. 6 years maybe. Not many remember every subtle change that has happened to it.

The Formula has a goofy sub-surface drive line. It works but it's not a race boat setup IMO. You would need to butcher the bottom to get it right.

Nice score Kent. You'll have fun with an SV and can even jump into a race if you get the itch.

I set a Formula FasTECH up for racing a couple of years ago and ran it pretty hard. Terry is right... the combination of the sub-surface drive and the goofy hull geometry, with a deep plunging bow line that would quickly taper back to be almost flat at the back, causes the boat to run really loose. Fun for bashing, but not so great for racing.

Cool looking boat though, if you are into the scale looking thing.

You'll have fun with the SV27R... These have been responsible for bringing many, MANY people into RC Boat racing... so hang onto your wallet!! I dare you to resist the temptation!!
