Oh ok tks Shawn, Ive used that to do rc plane wing cores and fix/fill busted up areas on edf jets. Glad you brought that up, alot cheaper than buying the block foam and cutting/sanding it down...didnt make any progress on DH build today, getting boats ready to go run sat and sun...

Got that back in the early days of HV EDF Jets, Lipos or Esc's going up in flames/smoke in a 100mph +++ rc Jet dont mix well with Styrofoam and epoxy coatings. Heard the statement too many times "wow, nice afterburner lights you put on that jet " from the flames shooting out the thrust nozzles. At one of the big RC plane events one of the guys told the spectators that I was some kind of a "Magic Smoke Wizard"...so that was a big chuckle with all the Jet Jockeys and the word spread on the Plane forums so, theres the rest of the story... I was big into the early stages of prototyping electric, foam Rc warbirds of all kinds, prop and EDF (electric ducted fan) ...I have smoked more motors, esc's and lipos than I actually dont even want to think up the $ value, regardless of the $ it was alot of fun..hence the handle "olwarbirds" too ..... No worries buddy, I have done 3 ESC's this year. It is only $$$ but Kinda hating CF right now. So as a side note, make sure you do a heavy clear over the finished product or be UBER careful and certainly not rushed.

After a Grrreat weekend of boating, I have started back on this build. I got one of the turnfins mounted. As you can see in pics, I can adjust the depth they run and angle. I am planning on making the fin knife blade sharp....

After alot of measuring, I got the 2nd fin mounted. Now everything is sharpened and polished. I think it has a menacing appearance...I decided to go with a .250 strut with a flat bottom and a push/pull rudder from OSE. Hardware should be here no later than thursday.

Those are the 'small's' DJ? They seem to do the trick. Good to have them adjustable. If I recall correctly the full size drag hydros did not have much fin in the water, just enough to 'track'.

Yes, those are the small fins. From the pics I looked at, your right there dont seem to be much fin on them....Once I get to the actual test runs, I will start with them running deep then adjust up, figure less drag etc... I do hope they help keep it like its running on rails. Ive been watching a lot of Drag Boat vids and I have noticed that when they get the least bit sideways, most often they loose control...

I got my hardware, the rudder is nice. I'm not overly impressed with the quality of the speedmaster .250 strut, the bushing fit is sloppy. The step in the bushing is very small and not making much contact, the bushing slides very easily all the way through the strut. Is this normal for this type of strut ?

You need to sleeve it. I am just running my stuffing tube thru it. Then the bushing runs inside that. I had the same thoughts at first
