    1 of a kind 37" CF Dragboat

As title says this is a one of a kind hull. The manufacturer only made one of these. From my understanding they were doing some kind of a promotional deal with hacker motors and something fell through. So lucky me after some begging purchased this hull off a OSE member who I now owe a big thanks. The manufacturer does make this hull in a FG version thats designed for gas/nitro aka slimers.

The hull is 37" long, 12" wide across transom, 16" wide at sponson heal. I been doing alot of cell burning brainstorming on this one ! There is very limited info on setting one of these up for FE, so Any help/ideas yall got will be appreciated. Travis (fxguy) and I have been doing alot of discussing on exactly how to do some of the things I had in mind. One thing I am going to do is put on a working rear wing, that works proportionate to throttle. Just like the real dragboats have. I am doing a cf inlay and several cf bulkheads. The wing mount area will need to be extremely durable, I am planning on a cf sheet spread across transom where wing mounts and then connect it to hull bottom for rigidity. I am also doing twin turn fins, hopefully this will keep it tracking straight.

Im going .250 flex cable down to 3/16 shaft for more prop choices. Neu 1521, 1527 or 1530 8mm shaft, mbp coupler, SF 300a with custom capbank that Drwayne helped me design, Savox servo. One of several items I am not sure what size I need is the rudder, some suggestions pls...I am planning on starting out 8S and working up. This build will not be a fast one and I am planning on showing all the steps I'm doing. NO stuff needed with this one ... DJ

Update: Since MBP is no longer wanting our business, I'm going to try the H&M 8mm - .250 coupler that Brian from www.rocketcityracing.com has gotten for me....

One of the other questions I have is where should I be setting my CG. Are these hulls the same as a regular Hydroplane ?

I don't like you a lot! I want that hull! If I donated a motor, do you think we could share it? DJ I think it will set up real simular to a regular Hydro. The functional wing will help even more I love this boat. Holy crap, who's big hairy gut is in that fourth pic! Looks like mine cept for the hair!

LOL Chris, dang I didnt even notice my dunlap was in pic ! When I move back to FL next year I will let you touch it, The boat that is !! I've had several offer to buy it. I did promise the OSE member I got it from (good dude too ) that once I set it up, if I decided to sell it would be his first. I dont think its getting sold, least not anytime soon. I'm having a real affair with this one. CG is suppose to be 2-3" behind sponson heal that leaves 19-20" to the transom. Good thing I'm using multiple lipos, I have a feeling this hull is going to be rather sensitive to CG and strut...This is going to be a fun project.

I'm wanting some high quality colored honeycomb CF cloth anyone got a link to a good source ? tks ... DJ

LOL I'm already busted or is it gutted by one of my supposed brothers...its all good, I dont mind a good laugh at my expense.... I am getting the static display blown engine with working blower belt. I do need a deal on a SF esc and some hardware if anyones got what I need give me a yell... I have the Motors, servo, props, .250 flex. I was wondering about how the stepping down to 3/16 works. Do you have to buy a special strut for this to work ?

I might have a source for your 300a esc. Just hold tight. I'm checking for you. I got my cnc machine up and running last night (had to buy a computer). So now it's time to learn to use it. I can help you out with the stringers when I get learned up lol.

I am with Chris here. I really dig this hull. We need a couple more drag hydro(or even flats) hulls in this size range. How is the buoyancy of this one DJ? You going to have to watch the waterline?

Shawn, Im not sure on this yet. I am planning on adding alot of flotation, there is plenty of room in it. I can tell its going to be low in the water though, not much hull height at all, around 2" near the transom. Im planning on putting all the goodies in it and playing in the tub with it (make vroom vrooom noises) ... Im putting a wing on to control lift. So I'm confused a bit on what strut to buy IE: flat or round bottom....unless Travis is planning on manufacturing something custom for me there too. Him and I been talking about how to set this boat up for a few weeks now. I'm with you guys, we need more drag style hulls to play go fast straight with. I know Randy at BBY has a couple he has been working on. I would like to see a true Drag racing class get popular. I do mean from a dead start drag like the real ones. I think this is an area in our hobby that has been over looked for too long now... DJ

The guys at the hobbyshop I worked at would go nuts over it...nicely done brother...The manufacturer of my boat have scale blown motors designed for these hulls with working blower belts. They have a Hemi and a Chevy...plus the metal dragboat gas tank...I think this is a definate need for this build... DJ

We got a couple of cases of them and were giving them out for a promo thing at my shop and I have some left. I just looked and I have the Top Fuel versions in Chrysler blown 426 hemi and Ford blown 427 SOHC Cammer which one you want? Both have Zoomie headers too! Where in Fl. are you moving back to?
