I'm getting a bit done now, since I'm not working till I get done recouping. Got my hardwood (basswood) doubler done. I am approaching this build as there is possibly some following who are new to this....There is several materials that you can use for doublers, hardwoods (plywood, basswood etc), carbon fiber panel and aluminum. If your using wood you need to waterproof it. I coat mine with finishing resin, I lay mine out on waxpaper so nothing sticks. I use those inexpensive foam brushes for spreading the expoxy. Next I will put one layer of cf cloth across the doubler thats facing the bow. I also got back my aluminum doublers for my turnfins.

One thing that I learned the hardway over many yrs of building rc stuff is that I can be a slob when comes to glues etc... If I dont cover up something that I dont want glue/epoxy on, inevitable it will end up with drops...so my process is to cover up with waxpaper. Some guys use painters tape etc.. whatever works for you....now its ready to put in doublers and the cf inlay

Got a bit more done, transom doubler is about ready to be installed. It has one layer of cf cloth, a bit more trimming to do then flood transom with some expoxy and install it...

Got the transom doubler installed and coated it all with 30 min epoxy thinned with a bit of denatured alcohol...aluminum sponsons doublers are epoxied in place...just waiting for it all to set, then I will start the cf inlay...

Shawn, no its not. It actually one of the better made cf hulls I have seen so far. I was doing the inlay for 2 reasons, one was to just beef it up a bit more, due to the stresses I know the pwr setups I'm going to try will produce. 2nd I wanted to change the interior color from just plain cf black. Now that I've been working with this hull some, I will probably not even worry about doing as many or any bulkheads. It takes a good bit of pressure to make the top deck flex. Other cf hulls have flexed just picking them up....DJ

I do need to mention, its not actual CF im doing the inlay with. Its Aramid and this is a lighter cloth than the CF that I would normally use.....

Gall bladder now that's a real fun party. There aren't enough pain meds for that.

Paul, not too bad but its not fun.....

I had got my Aramid cloth inlay done last night and first coat of resin. I'm not to happy with the results, it looks good but. Apparently this Aramid doesnt react to epoxy resin the same way as CF. I had paid extra for a copper/gold color and as you can see from the pics its now just looks black..... Guess a lesson learned, I wont be using this again.... DJ

Also as you can see from pic, I missed a couple imperfections in my sanding that now seem really extreme in appearance, but there not.

Tks, guess the 1530 is somewhat untested yet since they dont list the specs...I dont think the 1355 kv will have any probs handling 8-10S, That should put me into the around 45,000 rpm area I was looking for....I am still planning on starting out with the 1527 1500kv and if it dont launch like I'm wanting then try the 1530....
