I take a center punch and tap the part that mates with the mount. I also use 6-32 brass screws for shearing. The brass 6-32 bolt stopped me from mangling a rudder when I ran over Bob Zola with my q sport.

The cowl is coming along. Increased the 'leg room' as suggested.

Thanks. I still have a lot of work to do before I hit the CNC. Need to recess the windshield.

Finally finished the nose pcs. They were originally 7oz! I brought them down to 5.2oz after a 7/8" hole from end to end and a couple 7/8" holes on each side. This is equivalent to the last nose pc I made for the V1 boat and it ran well.

Anyone that is building the V5.3 or earlier kit will need to make this small mod. It is not absolutely necessary and is probably more or less an aesthetic thing.

On the V5.5, I added material to the fore/aft tub frames as shown in the first picture (bottom of the boat where the front pc is attached). The second picture shows how I added spruce to the V5.3 to cover the gap. It will be sanded and shaped.

Baby screwdriver set is making me look real smart.

Might want to drill the holes for the servo BEFORE building the frame, unless you have a 90° attachment for your dremel tool.

                  Yes, that's a traxxas servo!

Sharpen a piece of .062 piano wire. You can almost drill a hole around a corner with that.

Or you could use SHCS instead of crappy Phillips heads (yuck). I am sure that you have some 90 degree allen wrenches in that shop of yours.

Looking good Pete, your building skills are some of the best I have seen in awhile. As a matter of fact, I wish I had the skills you do! VERY NICE!

You are getting very close to painting the hull. It would be nice if you could go into detail about materials, cost and how you did it.

                            Sheesh......git a room.

I would second that. Not trying to swell your head Pete but you're builds rival some of the best I've seen. Clean, precise, and deliberate.

Did you guys have some bad food at the Elks or something?!?! You're talking all screwy and stuff.

Appreciate the praise, but I'm sure you guys have forgot more than I know about building.

I'm pretty excited about this CNC cowl mold though. That will open up all sorts of crazy opportunities.....like maybe full boat molds, etc!! The CNC table is at least 4' x 4'!!

Dude, can you skin your design?
We could CNC a plug, and make a mold. Vacuum infuse a CF hull. THAT Would be a kickass design.
