Opinions needed please

I have this test board for paints. Which base paint should I use for the red? My kids say red on white, I like the red on black, but I think red on white might be the way to go. I'm horrible with colors.

The red is a $5 3oz can of Testor's, not cheap by any means. Any other red I looked at was not right except Duplicolor Torch Red, but it's lacquer, shouldn't put lacquer on enamel.

Oh i see, you arent gonna have it two tone, i still think the darker red, not fire engine red...................it would look "toyish"

Not sure if we are on the same page or not there MaW.

What I did was start with a white board. The red on the right was sprayed directly on white. So the base coat there was white which made the red come out lighter and brighter.

For the red square on the left, I sprayed black on the white board, then sprayed the same red on top of it. So that black base coat made the red appear darker and not so bright. This is the one you like.

This red is only going to be used on the heart on the bow deck of the boat and on the engine covers, that's why I included the pictures. If I go with the dark red, then I need to spray black on the white boat, then the red. If I go with the brighter red, I just spray the red on the boat since it's already white.
