Please Do Not spray Duplicolor Clear over the White !! It will turn shades of yellow and brown ! Just an FYI !! My neighbor made that mistake on his 57" hull and had to start all over :-/

I was going to clear coat everything, decals and all. How long ago did he do that? Did he use the acrylic enamel?

Here is what I'm using so far.
        DAP1689 White primer
        DA1670 Gloss White
        DA1600 Gloss Black
        DA1692 Gloss Clear

Happened about a month ago ! You may want to google it !! It was Acrylic Enamel !! I tested it and sure enough it happened on a scrap boat hull ! Turned a yellowish tint about 2 days later as it cured ! Google tells of more stories, also humidity was only 45% ! Just a fair warning and glad I saw this ! I just put mine on heavy (White Only NO Clear ) and let it sit for about 10 days and then wet sanded it up to 5000 grit wet/dry,(Started with 800 wet) then polished it to a high gloss shine !! Also Rustoleum stays soft forever !

Thanks. I did look it up already and saw mention of this. I'll try it on a test piece as well. Damn, sure would like to have a clear coat. You did this with Rustoleum? Guess it can happen with any rattle can paint.

No, I used the same as you, Duplicolor Acrylic White and Clear !! Used Red also but after I saw the test hull and my buddies Hull I backed off and just took time wet sanding and came out like Glass !! Also tried other batches from other AutoZone's and they all did same thing !? Just keep edges sharp and sand and polish away !

If you're going to clear it, use a 2 part urethane automotive clear and spray it with a gun the results will be much better or take it to a local body shop and have it cleared after you get everything done.

The thought of yellowing never came to mind. Figured if I kept to the same brand of paint for everything I should be good. I'll have to check with a local body shop. Paint is a weak spot for me. Thanks buddman36 and Chris.

Wow, close call there. I always use Rustoleum, let cure several days, wet sand and then clear with "Rustoleum" Clearcoat.................never a problem with this combo.

U-pol Clear#1. But do test on some thing. I have used it over Testors with good results on most colours.
It is one spray can and a great clear.

Hmmmm. U-pol? Started looking into it. I have a sample board I made up a few months ago just for testing. I'll sand it smooth, prime it, paint it and try U-pol out. Would rather do it all myself.

I've used Krylon before with no problems, but over on RCGroups there have been lots of complaints about it. I did use Rustoleum on my Marlin, used a flat clear coat on it but not thrilled about the final result, but it's OK. I'm a few weeks away from the clear coat anyway, if I use it. Still have lots of work to do on the hatch-cockpit and figures. My graphics from Callie will not be sent out until Monday.

Being the size of the hull Chris has a good point about taking it to a body shop. They will have the right sprayer to cover it well. Not to mention the climate controlled booth. It would be worth looking into anyway.

The U-pol products are great products, you can get them @ most body shop supply stores.
