you have to set the throttle travel. pull the throttle to full then turn the switch on, when it starts beeping let the throttle off to neutral then you should get the initalizing beeps. After that the throttle should work. If it doesn't work then, I'm thinking you have a defective ESC.

Lovely, is it supposed to come with instruction that tell you this? And what the beeps mean? Or is this the China way?
Did what you said. Motor kicks over! Looking from the back of the boat, the motor spins clockwise. The prop I have is for the other direction. Which direction is correct? What now?
I guess I'm going to need a shield as grease started spinning out of the stuffing tube. What do you do about this?
Tried the program box again, goes blank still. Bad program box?Last edited by Ken_NJ; 08-09-2014, 04:51 PM.Comment

As for grease spinning out, I use epoxy measuring cups to shield. I cut them half, and place them over using electrical tape or hocek tape to secure, all my boats have them, not home, you can check my album, not sure if there are any there, but should have one shot atleast.

I mean swap any two wires between motor and ESC, program box will not change rotational direction, its for timing, battery count and low voltage cutoff, etc., etc.
Good luck!

I'm learning, thanks. Swapped two wires going to the motor, spinning counter clockwise now. Counter clockwise seems right to compress the flex cable. I have that right?
I have a clear section of plastic tubing over the works, but grease is still flying out. Guess it'll be trial and error until I get it right. Will check out your method. Fuzzy pics.
Now I'm down to not being able to program the ESC. Must be a bad box, will have to wait to hear from Steve. The ESC and program box came from OSE.

Yes, cable should be compressed, also you will not have as much grease coming out with this rotation, but it is always a messy spot.
Sorry about the pro. box, you mean its completly blank??
Strange, and would it be possible to program it via your computer? Although I had a tough time installing/down loading the software. But when I did it, it seems that's a better way to go,just saying.

Did you press other arrows and get to the manu with the area you wanted to have input or it just says OK?
I remember mine did the same and when I plugged in to the computer, all the inputs were saved correctly.Too many boats, not enough time...Comment

When I turn it on the box says 'Upgrade or press OK to connect ESC'. When I press OK, the screen goes blank. I tried pressing each arrow key in any order, nothing.
Supposed to press OK, then left arrow, then it should go to the Parameter screen. It just goes blank.
Here's a video of it not working, this was yesterday. http://s11.photobucket.com/user/ken_...tml?sort=9&o=1
Or are the Chinese-American instructions not what they really mean in American?Comment

I must admit that my memory is a bit foggy right now and the rigger with the Swordfish ESC is stored at my Mom's, so I can't elaborate any further, sorry about that. I hope you get it worked out soon, can't wait to see your boat run!

You me and a few others! At least I'm getting closer to actually getting it in the water.
Here's a video of giving the motor a quick shot. Not much, sound OK?

Motor sounds great, that is going to be a blast when you run her!
I like the second vid. of your propane powered boat, when you have a time, start a thread and I am sure many people will be fascinated by this machinery.Too many boats, not enough time...Comment

Cool at least it works, I'm thinkin' you got a bad program box or you can get the PC stuff. The destructions that come with the ESC are really vague, you can go to thier web site and down load the complete instructions. As for the grease, I've not figured a way to keep it from making a mess yet. I just wipe it up after everytime I run it, if it's slinging grease all over the place I know I have enough in it!Comment

Propane powered? Not mine, saw that at a local boat show. I got a kick out of that old stuff as well.
Just downloaded the instructions, thanks. Hopefully I hear from Steve on the program box. And guess I'll get the USB linker. Have a few other things I can order. In the meantime I guess I'm on hold until I get the ESC set.
Use anything special to cover up the battery bullet to stop shorts?Comment
