I used DHL for international incoming shipments a couple of times. They would always try to tack on a $25-50 'customs inspection fee' which DOES NOT EXIST and is total bull hockey. They did it twice. I told them it was a scam, that I was reporting them to the feds, and they could sue me for the money. Never heard another word. DHL still does international I think but no more domestic in the US. Suits me fine. I threw away all the boxes and supplies they gave me and closed out my account.
For international, I still use the post office, EMS, Express Mail Service. Funny, I can send something to the U.K. in some instances for less than I can send the same item inside the U.S! In the U.S. they now have the idiotic 1 cubic foot restriction before you go into 'dimensional weight' for which the charges are outrageous. The 1 cubic foot doesn't apply to EMS! Go figure. I'm so tired of the Post Office whining to congress to raise their rates. They are putting themselves out of business because of their high rates. No wonder they say they're losing money. I used to use them for everything. Not anymore. I use Fedex ground if it's over 1 cubic foot.
Wow, that is one cool looking boat.
fyi: ups is idiotic on international rates, typically double or more.
I used to get pretty good rates from FedEx, but I caught them overbilling me by $10,000 over a 2yr period, one of these 'hand in the cookie jar' was a $400 surcharge on an international shipment that was supposed to be $60.
Now I do all our internat shipments thru usps, prices still seem pretty high, but at least I know they won't be hitting my account with some silly charge that wasn't quoted.Mini Cat Racing USA
