I made contact with the person in Sarasota County Parks Department. She is going to check with her "water guy" regarding allowing us to put in some steps and then will call me next week. She also just called me back and wanted to know more about NAMBA. I have a feeling she doesn't know the history of Akerman and Model Boating even though I told her that Mr. Akerman made it mandatory that model boating be allowed on the lake when he gifted it to the county.

I feel a minor hassle comin on!

Thats a good sign she asked about NAMBA, but as I'm sure you know Jim, their next response will likely be silence. It's easier to be silent or say 'no' than address the issue, so we need to keep pounding. Probably not good for them politically to try and deny use, or otherwise interfere with rights that were granted to us as a condition of the gift.

She was not at all negative. You can't just go diggin holes, putting in steps, etc. on public land without permission! I was a country parks and recreation director for many years. If we were just going to keep running until they say otherwise, I'd say just lay low. But if you want to make improvements, we are going to have to get permission.

I realize we can have the akerman's talk to her. Let's see where we get without it first. When I told her we'd been falling on our butts on the bank out there she said "I'll bet"! She said she would have her guy look at it and call me next week. Again, she was NOT negative at all.

We also need to be official to have any say in conflicting events. She said there is a triathlon this weekend and a swim leg is going to be done there. So we need to be in touch to know what's going on.

I will NOT be able to attend on the 27th. The moving of our shop has been delayed 3 times due to ing FPL . The weekend of the 26-27th is now the "scheduled" move date, not to mention we have to be out of the current location by the end of the month.

So... unless someone else is bringing a retrieve boat and motor, I will need to make arrangements to get the club's boat/motor to another member.

Kong, my 4S twin is running but I dont have enough 4S packs to run it when Im running LSO and P-mono. I may bring it but depending on how heats go, but may not be able to run it.

Chris, I dont want to say yes on the retreive boat yet as Im not 100% sure I will be there. Seems Ive been a week off lately on the schedule. Not much going on the weekends we arent there, but come T&T or race day Im slammed w/ things to do. I will let you know when the day gets closer....

It seems mighty quiet in here for just a few days before a race day.
Have we managed to resolve the rescue boat situation yet? If worse comes to worse suppose I could go over to Chris' Saturday evening and strap it to the roof of my van. (and hope it's still there Sunday morning since I have no place to really put it) Then drop it back off Sunday afternoon or evening depending on when he will be available.
Not sure of what would be needed in the line of straps for securing it to my roof?

Scott has a pickup but last I heard he wasn't sure if he would be able to make it or not. Thought I'd go ahead and get an inquiry started now so hopefully we'll be covered by then. I'm not as young as I used to be so swimming for one is kinda out of the question.

has anyone checked the weather for sunday yet? The weather channel website says 14 mph winds.
