I checked weather underground for Sarasota and says 6 - 8 mph wind from the South on Sunday.

wunderground says 5 mph out of the south, and a HOT 87*

UPDATE ON SARASOTA COUNTY:

I spoke with the County again today. She is very amenable! She actually called and talked to the NAMBA Pres. about what sort of amenities are required, i.e, covered shelters, docks, etc. Of course he told her that is up to each club, there are no national standards.

She asked if we wanted to put in the steps or have them do it. I told her we were a bit on the older side (no kiddin') and it would be great if the county would do it. She said OK but would need to check funding.

She went on to say that the County's new direction for recreation is to have facilities that would attract tourists and to provide different types of activities. I sensed she really likes the idea of our club at Akerman. She said she tried to find old plans or agreements from the previous club but had no luck. I told her there are still some people from the club around if she needs to talk with them.

Of course we knew there is a Kayak group that uses Akerman and we would have to work around their schedule, etc. I told her no problem. I also pointed out that our base of operations is on the south end of the lake so steps and any future improvements shouldn't interfere with their operations which is on the East side.


I reminded her that Mr. Akerman gave the lake to the county with the caveat that model boating always be allowed there. She either knew that or accepted my word on it.

She might come by the lake on Sunday. If she does and I'm not there treat her well! Her name is SUE WHETZEL.

Looks like progress to me!

Great news on the County Jim.
As far as winds go, the av site doesn't show Sunday yet but is showing about 13 from the south for Saturday.
Hope we can come up with something on the rescue boat between now and then.

wow, thats great news ! The county can build steps, and maybe a drivers stand, big enough to lock up the boat underneath it... just an idea

After looking at this I'm about ready to just call this Sunday a wash and hope for better weather the next weekend. Around 6 mph from the south at 8:00 am and climbing to 17 mph by 2:00 pm.
Still haven't heard any kind of word on getting the rescue boat there either. If you plan to commit to running this Sunday, now is the time to say so. If there aren't at least 6 others who say they will be there I'm not going to bother with it even though most of my boats are already prepped and ready.

I have a boat load of lipo's charged for this Sunday and no where to run!

I hope somebody can take care of the retrieve boat and that somebody shows up because the lady from the County MAY come by. It would be good to have somebody greet her. I had hoped to ride down with HighNDry if he goes. I can't run because I can barely walk right now. Multiple problems. DANGIT! Trying desperately to get some of these ailments resolved before the nats!

If we can get at least 5 confirmed "will show" people I'll still bring down the retrieve boat whether I run or not. I'm not going to haul it down just for the fun of hauling though.
