I heard Lake Michigan was a possibility as well but just a lil bit too far for me to drive.

I just spoke with hugh and highndry. Here's the plan. We all go to the Riverview lake on June 27th, 9a.m. and see what happens. Bill has been there and says its a great site. When we meet there we should discuss just joining their club and not renewing our club memberships which are due now anyway. Bill has already said here that he would be in favor of going to riverview on that day. Ray, are you in?Mini Cat Racing USA

Osprey, if you are available on the 27th, we have decided to go to a club lake in Riverview. Maybe 20-30 minutes north of Akerman park. Here's a link to their club website.

I left messages here on the forum for you. I tried to call a few times and didn't leave a message. I have asked others and they said they hadn't heard anything from you either.
You live to hell and gone from everybody else. I'm probably the closest and it's still about a 80 mile round trip. I'd come get it but my car won't handle the trailer and it won't fit inside.
The question is have you given up R/C boats? We have to plan for the future for the retrieve boat.
I never said that I expected someone to come all the way here to pick up the boat. If you look at my last post I said meet me. I would say that me living in St. Pete is more central to everyone than anything. As of right now, I am not doing anything with the rc boats.Comment

Ouch! Good catch Bill! Guess it will have to be 10:30 then.
Might want to re-think on the arrival time. According to their website the facility does not open until 10:30 on Sundays.Mini Cat Racing USA

I agree with your thinking in this respect and plan to ride up today as well since I didn't make it yesterday. I'm going with club app in hand and hoping someone will be there to let me join.Comment

Not sure we will be 'crashing their party' as I have had conversations with their president and he said he had talked to all the members. So we shouldn't be a total surprise. Their reason for turning down our request is that they did not want to give us one saturday or sunday a month from 9-4 for electric only. Otherwise, they have no problem with us.

Bill,
Glad to see you got a run in, thanks for posting the video. I also agree now after talking with Mike from the Riverview club that going out there next Sunday is not a good idea. Mike still has not talked to one of their key members about having us join their club or having us run FE boats out there. Apparently they have some safety concerns regarding Lipo batteries that we did not know. Mike talked about the need to have an external cut off switch to kill the power when the boats are retrieved. He had seen more than one of Herb Stewarts "RIP" boats burn up in Dover. He also thought it would be a good idea to have a separate sealed compartment for the lipos, I told him that would cause the batteries to overheat being in a confined space like that. I told him most of us had burned up esc, motors and overheated our packs, but that the lipo's didn't explode. He is also concerned that in a race if their is a collision between boats a hull might be breached and the intrusion of water and electricity would cause a fire. He also is concerned that our batteries have enough amps to shock and cause bodily injury to a person. Mike still has reservations about us running until more research on the safety issues are resolved. I guess we need to come up with a list of safety requirments we follow and can show them. Wonder what kind of rules they are using at the FE Nats. Maybe we can find a copy and post them.
