It is the third saturday of the month. That is June 19th unless enough people want to get together before then. We moved the meets to saturdays to accommodate one of our members but he hasn't been able to attend on Saturdays either. I guess we need to ask the question....should we go back to Sundays? ... or ...?

At the next meeting, dues need to be renewed. Remember the deal, If you renew before the end of the membership year (which runs to June 30) then you don't have to pay the initiation fee again. If you do not renew in time, you have to pay the initiation fee again.

For the two who joined recently, you are good until June 30, 2011! No worries.

I hope our members are keeping an eye on this thread?

We need to come up with alternative means of retrieval. One of our members has a couple of nifty little retrieve boats but he has never shown up in Sarasota even one time. Not sure why he paid to belong?

I personally be disapointed, if the dicission to go back to sundays is made. I think some more effort should be made to have a get together every month, & not just cancel it.

I'd vote for Sundays myself. Saturday is normally my flying day and think Obrien usually has other things to do on Sat as well.
The weekend you were all gone to the race there was a couple of people from Horseshoe Cove that showed up with an inflatable (and a truck full of rc boats) on that miserable weather Sunday. Chances are they are wondering "what ever happened to the boaters that used to be here". It took me a while to find where the club calls home on the web after my 1st visit at Ackerman.

Bill Cosby has a great quote:

He said, "I don't know what the secret to success is but the secret to failure is trying to please everybody".

So true. I try to keep this group together but it seems that what is good for some is bad for someone else. Very frustrating. I do know that lack of a retrieve boat is a complete show stopper. We need to figure out an alternative when that happens. Our members are spread apart so far that it's not a matter of just running across town for somebody else to pick up the retrieve boat.

I would still like for us to have two lake locations and run twice a month, once up north and once down south but I am completely stumped for a lake on the north end. We have run newspaper articles, etc. but all of the lakes around the Land O Lakes area are private and everybody is in NIMBY (not in my back yard) mode.

One thing we should continue to pursue is linking up with an 'accepting', and that is the key word, existing club to share their lake. The president of one very active club in the Tampa area is a jerk and won't even talk about it. I can't seem to get hold of the pres. of another club who is currently looking for a lake themselves. (I thought if we joined forces at the outset it might work out well). ... and just have not hooked up with another club as of yet.

            Don't give up guys!

What do you think about trying again in two weeks rather than scrapping this month's run all together? That would be May 29th at Akerman. I think we are going to have to be flexible somewhat in the future. If the retrieve boat can't be had on the scheduled Saturday, we should consider running the next day although that may cut into somebody else's schedule.

All this confusion calls for an excedrin!

We put this to a vote before we switched and nobody had a problem with it. Now problems surface. We have a new member who is all enthused who can not come on Sundays and one of our founders who can't do Sundays during baseball season. Now, people want to go back to Sundays. Go figure, eh?

              The ultimate solutions are:
              1. Run more than once a month! Once on Saturday, Once on Sunday.
              2. Have two retrieve boats. or, somebody near the retrieve than can pick it up when necessary.
              3. Have more than one lake.
              4. Recruit more members!
              5. Join up with another club to share their facilities, etc.

Regarding number 5, if we could join with another club as the 'electric division' and get some dedicated time on their lake, retrieve boat, etc., we could maybe 'buy in' by turning what little we have in the treasury to them and our members join their club. They would have to be willing to accept our existing members until dues come around again. I will work on this but no promises!

              Comments please!!

HighNDry and some others are really absent on this forum. Hope they chime in!

Bill, I don't know who that would have been with the inflatable the weekend we went to the waveblasters race. That should be Pete Forcier but he was in Port St. Lucie also. Wish we knew who that was!

What has happened to Rick!? He lives in Bradenton. Doesn't return calls, etc. He ran with us a lot until the last couple of months. Rick...where are you?

Sandy, have you given up boats?

Reed, you gonna start coming to run with us?

Final tournament this weekend, then I will be free at least until the fall. Sat vs Sun doesnt matter to me at this point. We should do whatever accomodates the most members. Ackerman is our lake. It works fine.
Boats don't win races, drivers do.

Saturday or Sunday is fine with me what ever generates the most participation, running twice a month is good once on a Sat. and other on Sun.

I agree Mike. Something i would like to suggest as a topic of discusion. Instead of one meet a month . Schedule two meets a month, like the 1 & 3 week or the 2 & 4 week on each month . Then if we cant find a retrive boat for the first scheduled day, or for another reason . We can switch it to the second scheduled day.

                              Hi Guy's

I will be there around the 15th of June.
There is a pond in my front yard.
When I get there I will find out if they will let me bring friends in to run.
The pond is big enough for a 1/8th course, but a little too tight for the 1/6th course.
I am in the park near the corner of 19N and E Bay Dr. on 12th st.
