This is really dis-heartening. I guess a short notice is better than no notice?Comment

Sorry for the short notice but I have been trying to contact Jeff for over two weeks. We simply have to have more than one retrieve boat I guess for a backup or something. I'm so danged frustrated I could scream!

I left messages here on the forum for you. I tried to call a few times and didn't leave a message. I have asked others and they said they hadn't heard anything from you either.
You live to hell and gone from everybody else. I'm probably the closest and it's still about a 80 mile round trip. I'd come get it but my car won't handle the trailer and it won't fit inside.
The question is have you given up R/C boats? We have to plan for the future for the retrieve boat.Mini Cat Racing USA

If this club is going to survive, something has to done. I probably live the closest to Ackerman but my mini van has no hitch and not enough room to haul it inside. Plus I don't have a place to store a boat between club days (unless it was a small inflatable or fold up). As it stands, think I've gotten to run twice at Ackerman. Once back in February when I stopped in to check the group out and the second time when I joined the club in April. (there was no run in March since ya'll were gone to the races and May got scrubbed due to the kayaks)
Has anything been heard from the Riverview club yet? Running there would solve this issue since they keep their boat at the lake. It's a longer ride for me but should be closer for everyone else in the group and it is a nice facility. Chances are I will join there once I can catch a club officer to talk to (unless they are opposed to having electrics among their gassers).Comment

The Riverview club gave us a thumbs down! They won't allow us one day a month to run our heats. That just adds to the frustration for all of us. Believe me, I feel the frustration. I've tried to keep everything together but we just keep getting pulled apart. The retrieve boat issue is a biggie for sure and I don't have a clue how to solve it.
If anyone has answers speak up! It's rediculous to have a huge investment in these boats and can only run them a few times a year! I live 8 minutes from one of the best flying fields in the country where I can fly all day, any day I want. Sure is tempting to just going back to flying full time without any other distractions!Mini Cat Racing USA

Hi Mike, (Mike Whitney)
Nice talking to you a week or so ago about our electric club (group) joining your club. We only
have a couple of concerns, primary of which is that we would get a minimum of one Saturday or
Sunday a month for electric only heats. So here is what we are proposing. We would love to come
to your site and demonstrate what we run, etc. If there is a weekend day in June that would be great.
To: Gulfcoast RC Boat Club (GCRCBC) http://www.gulfcoastrcboats.com/
• Our members join the GCRCBC
• We retain a "Group" name of West Florida Fast Electric Racers. (kinda like the tunnel boat association)
• We are all bonafide NAMBA members.
• As members of the GCRCBC we will be able to use the facility whenever it is open (currently 7 days a week)
• Our group be allotted a minimum of one, but preferably two, dedicated (no nitro/gas boats on the lake) saturday(s) or sunday(s) each month for FE heat races. Times would be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. If a regional or club nitro/gas event is scheduled, we can pick a different weekend.)
• Our group will conduct a maximum of two sanctioned Fast Electric meets per year.
• Our 'group'/members will assist with club projects and assist with all club meets.
• We would hope other club members (nitro/gas boaters) would assist with our official sanctioned events.
Thanks for your consideration. If you would like one or some of us to come to a club meeting we would be happy
to. We are go fast model boaters just like you...we just use electrons to get there!
Cheers!

I have a suggestion! Let's go to the Riverview site on June 27th! We may not be able to run any heats but I would hope they'd let us run out boats as guests for the day. By showing up there enmasse and running our electric killers maybe it would open some eyes. Danged sure can't run anything at Akerman anyway without a retrieve boat. Pretty sure they have electricity at the riverview site but not sure.
The only fallback position I can think of regarding joining their club and running heats once a month is that we ask 'permission' from the other members there, from time to time throughout the day to run a heat. It only takes about 2 minutes!! I actually mentioned that to their President and he said that MIGHT be workable. IF we did that we might be able to run some heats more than once a month if everyone wants to show up!Mini Cat Racing USA

I have my own charging station built into the back of my van but don't think the 24D marine battery would support the whole club. I seldom charge off it anyways. Usually charge my packs up the night before and take along a charger "just in case".Comment

It used to be that they didn't allow you to keep your vehicle by the pit area. You had to unload and then move your car to the east end or south of the pits across the ditch. Is it still that way? Maybe that's just on race day. Dunno.Mini Cat Racing USA

There is always the lake in St. Pete where Rchippie runs but Saturdays are open for electrics. Nitro and gas boys run there on Sundays. We need to check it out.
Any thoughts?Mini Cat Racing USA
