    Jim,

Are we talking about running with them or at a seperate time? If with them, then please make sure they space out the electric heats, running back to back is a disaster. How many heats are they running in a day? If it's as many as the Brandon club it is doomed to failure.

    All the best,

    Ray

Haha. Gotta agree about retrieve boat and gators. Keep your hands and feet inside the boat at all times!
Just a little misunderstanding. By over here I meant here in this thread so we could get a little useful Q&A going. We're not total beggars either. We do still have access to Ackerman don't we?

        Bill,

Yes, Ackerman is available. Best not to run there on Saturdays though.

Talking about running totally separate from them. Our own runs like we have now. That may be hard to pull off. Not sure until we discuss it in more depth with them.

One thing that is quite novel about their facility is that everything is owned by the property owner....not the club. The venue can be 'rented' by outsiders (Us?) to put on events. To me it would be better that if we wanted to host a race and invite the waveblasters over, for example, that we be part of the club so the other members could assist us. We would assist when they are hosting nitro/gas events. Wow! Just like a club? Go figure, eh?

I need suggestions for the bullet list.

Here is what I have so far:

Not in any particular order and the language isn't fully 'fleshed out'.

To: Gulfcoast RC Boat Club (GCRCBC) http://www.gulfcoastrcboats.com/

            • Our members join the GCRCBC
            • We retain a "Group" name of West Florida Fast Electric Racers.
            • As members of the GCRCBC we will be able to use the facility whenever it is open (currently 7 days a week)
            • Our group be allotted a minimum of one, but preferably two, dedicated (no nitro/gas boats on the lake) saturday(s) or sunday(s) each month for FE heat races. Times would be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. If a regional or club nitro/gas event is scheduled, we can pick a different weekend.)
            • Our group will conduct a maximum of two sanctioned Fast Electric meets per year.
            • Our 'group'/members will assist with club projects and assist with club meets.
            • Other club members (nitro/gas boaters) will assist with our official sanctioned events.

Comments? Things to add? Wording? HELP! I want to get this off to them ASAP. Maybe we could go there for our June meeting and demonstrate to them. The president of their club thought FE was just funky little boats....nothing serious. I explained what we are running and he was amazed.

I just got a line on a lake in Land O Lakes near the Suncoast Parkway. I'll check it out this weekend if possible.

Where is Archies lake? Is that the same as the one in Riverview? I was just looking at their website (link in sailr's post above) and it looks pretty decent. It also mentioned that they had "lowered" their dues.

Archie's lake is in St. Petersburg. Totally different from Riverview. Riverview site is great. Dues are $35 right now. They were $65 and may go back up next year.

The lake I looked at today is a bust. Weeds, and length where we would have to run is too short. Also in a housing addition. If we could get access from the other end of the lake it would be better but it's on private property.

I think we need to go back to Sundays at Akerman for now. If nobody has any more ideas for me to add to the list for the Riverview club, I'll go ahead and email it. I am going to ask if it would be possible for us to do a demo for them in June.

For lack of a better plan, we should think about Akerman for June 20th. If anybody wants to go run with rchippie on Saturday(s) let him give you directions.

Sunday 6/20 is Father's day. Probably should try a different day, what about 6/27. Jim your bullet list looks good to me.

Or maybe even 6/13 since there was no run in May?

turns out the 20th is Father's day so shooting for 13th or 27th. We have one vote for the 27th from Hebner

                              27th

The 27th works for me too. I'll go along with everybody else. I took a run up the Riverview site today. Very nice facility with a full time recovery vessel so nobody has to worry about bringing one. I'm thinking real serious about joining this club even if they are primarily gas n glo. Having a place to run 7 days a week if wanted with no worry about a retrieve boat, the price is right even if it is a 40 mile trip.

I didn't meet any of the actual club members today but there was a couple of guys from the Orlando area practicing for next weeks race. After about 10 minutes of hinting around they let me run my little toy boats for a while and even gave me some insight as to what to do to the Delta to get rid of the hop.
Finally got to run my Genesis in gator free water too. It might make 40 with a x638 on 4s and will turn at full throttle. 4s gets it fast enough to go past the porpoise, effect too. Ran it for almost a full 3 minutes before punching one of the course markers. The hull is pretty tough. It actually spun the boat around in the water and sunk the marker jug. Didn't hurt the boat though. (Wish somebody had been shooting video of that one)
OK, I'll take my scolding now, but had to tell somebody.
