Riverview might cut down on my attending on Saturdays since it's mot exactly right next to where I fly, but would still try to make Sundays.

It's not that far up the road. Maybe 45 min max. We all wish we had a lake in our back yard! ;-)

And this time of year one that's surrounded by shade trees. It was hot in the sun this weekend. I ran at my buddy Alex's house on Sunday. We had the "Gatorbait offshore grand prix". (Don't think I'll be making another run up there for boating even if it is a big lake)

Getting back on topic, Riverview is within easy enough driving distance but would be even harder to get there before most are ready to go home (if I had my morning flights 1st.) Guess it's just one of those things where I don't want to drive south 20 miles then come back north 50 to to turn around and drive 30 south again on the same day.

Riverview is South of Brandon, North of Sun City, off I-75. They have a plenty big lake. Great course already laid out. Membership is $35 right now but may be going to $65.

It won't make sense for us to make this move unless enough of us do it . Otherwise, not enough people to put together a heat in anything.
The $35.00 membership fee sounds good. But maybe going to $65.00 is pretty steep. Why so much ?.

I think it's the rule of supply and demand. They have a supply of water and are suddenly sensing a larger demand for it's use.
I'll be honest, I joined up because I originally thought the club was SRQ based. I had no idea most of you guys are driving such a considerable distance to get here.
Needless to say, it won't hurt my feelings if the move doesn't happen but think it would be better for the largest majority if it did. I'll still come and play when I can make it at a decent time.

the course on their lake is 1/8 mile just like the one at ackerman. Mike. you paid 50 to join our club, but 15 more is too much? especially when you consider it will only have better organization than we have now, and alot more racing.

I thought Ackeman was 1/6 mile since we were only running 6 laps there?

On dollar amounts I wasn't going to go there but... unless they are tacking on an initiation fee it's actually $35 less than what it cost for the initial joining.
65 a year is not a bad price even if it is a healthy jump from what it was.
I pay 60 each year to MCRC for my membership there along with 75 to SRQ for my membership there. I don't fly at MCRC that much any more since I like the runway at SRQ better but have no plans to let the MCRC membership lapse. (they have a $200 initiation fee that I don't want to pay again) And it's nice to have a backup facility.

                    Bill,

You are correct. Ackerman is 1/6th mile. The Riverview site is also 1/6th mile.

It costs money to run a club. The airplane clubs I belong to are $70 and $80 a year. We will spend tons of money building a boat but complain about club dues? Never have been able to figure that one out. Anyway, your choice to join or not.

Jim said he did'nt know yet how much use of the lake the FE guys will have. He also said it is up to the members of the exsisting club. To vote on whether or not the fe guys can join there club. I don't mind paying club dues at all. It just seems like alot to me.

OK nobody else is saying anything so I will. It's getting time to do a roll call or something. We're talking about merging a club but so far only see about 4 people even saying anything.
I do have a suggestion. Why not invite somebody from the Riverview group over to this area so we can get some useful information running between us. Even if it's not restricted to "just" electrics I'm curious as to how often there are gatherings at the lake. I'm not that competitive but do like to run and not that choosy about where. (although I do have a preferece to having a retrieve boat available and no gators in the pond)

The Riverview guys are all nitro and gas. They have asked us to put together a 'bullet list' of what we want. Then it will be presented to their members. I'm going to propose we set up a date where we come run our electrics for them on their lake. We're the beggars here. It's unrealistic to ask them to drive to Akerman I think.

Haha. Gotta agree about retrieve boat and gators. Keep your hands and feet inside the boat at all times!
