ok boys, it looks like you're the dudes to help me out! you can check out my ekos experience on rcgroups but long story short.... 2 min run time and blew both motors and possibly esc's (wires shorted and melted together), all precautions were taken (cooling lines clear, 32mm stock props, 3s 5000 lipos, runnin easy etc) anyway venom is out of everything as usual so until they send me new parts i want to start looking for upgraded motors, esc's, shafts, props etc. so after the "new" motors blow i'll be ready to upgrade the boat. i want to run the same lipos. jeff wohlt has already made some suggestions but i'll need all details as well as where to purchase.

    thanks

          Motor mods.

I am running 3s battery packs also with Feigao 380 8XL motors with huge cooling jackets,Wohlt flex shafts and couplers and some other cooling mods.If you want the option of 4s use 9XL or 10XL.Everything you need is right on this Forum.OSE has lots of parts to choose from,Just wish some props would come in soon I hate the plastic ones.

Did you get the couplers from Jeff Wohlt? I goy mine and forgot about the stock motors having 4mm shafts. The couplers wont work on the feigao 1/8" shafts. I'm gonna get ahold of Jeff to see if he can make me a set of couplers to fit 1/8" shafts.

                Couplers

Yes I did get them from him.He is shipping the correct couplers on mon.I think he has those in stock but he just shipped me the stock ones by mistake. The HD flex shafts are nice and I have a new stuffing tube that works better than stock ones that are too tight.

Really? So the flexshafts that I got from him will not fit in the stock tubes? I havent tried them yet.

They are a bit tighter than expected so what I am doing is sanding them a bit to knock a few .000 off. Putting them in a drill and using som rough paper should do it. We used to do this all the time to reduce resistance and even polished them. I had no idea .005 would be tighter....they must be pretty tight from the factory.

I am finding some smaller flex but I will prbably just include a new liner if I stay with the 130.

Check them and let me know.

                      Flex shafts.

They will fit in the tube but they are real tight which might cause some binding in the curved area of the tubes.I went to the LHS with my new shafts and tried many tubes of metal and plastic and found the Sullivan #511 rod and tube kit has red teflon or plastic tubes that are the perfect size. They just fit into the stock aluminum tubes and fit the flex shafts with enough room for lube.If you cant find some I will mail you enough to do both tubes as I now have a lifetime supply 6' of it.

                          Flex shaft size.

I like the flex shafts keep them the same. The fix was easy and it will work better in the long run.The stock tube was even tight on the stock shafts when compared to the recommended clearance in the set up guides I have read. [ Forescott ] have you tried any new props?

I have tried 32mm pro machined venom, 36mm pro machined venom, octura x442's, and CF-40's. Even a set of octura x432's (not counter rotating)

                              Props

I just ordered 2 sets of CF 40mm from OSE and will mod 1 set for testing. What were your favorite props.I am trying to get some Octura 442s custom shaped so they don't overload the motors but no one has them in stock.

(mickey mouse setup involving a short allen, a mini extension, a mini ratchet an a needle nose pliers) oh and cramped hands! show me what you use
