kos uses a square drive i believe and that doesn need clearance because the strut takes all the force at the teflon bushing, not the motor

My first time doing this. I bought a BJ26 amonth ago. Crashed a couple times, sank it twice. Still runs great. Went to a hobbie shop and saw the EKOS and i had to have it!! Looking on the internet i found this forem and joined. Ive been glued to mt iphone for 5 days reading and reserching. My EKOS comes in tomarrow and im not lookin to break any records or melt it, but i dont want the slowest either. Lipos are new to me and so are the boats. What is a safe lipo and prop combo? Also a charger. $$$ dosent matter too much. Any info is appreciated. Cant wait!!!!

Well I bought mine with 3s 4000 venom 11.1 lipos. To me this is a great combo set up. Avoid standard and 4s as a limit. Boat moves really well and replacement motors in the future will be needed. If u can get acalm day no wind she will do 60 on the hull. Over that might be turned into a plane. Remove everything in the shafts regrease with marine grease when u get it. Place lock tight on screws on motor and props. Remove watercooling hoses at rudder hold some water in
mouth and blow into each tube. Should go thru with slight resistance. Then ur good. Change to metal props later on.

Good luck with it as many of the posts here are showing failures with this boat..
I would stay with 3s and check temps every 30 seconds and check all harware that you don't loose anything

I ran this same setup with no issues.. Upgraded to X442's on the same power and ran a little hot, but kept an eye on temps and did not have a failure..

How did u get 540s and jackets to fit. Or do they just touch the bottom of the hull but still line up. 5s seems to work good with that set up. I'm trying to go the simple route and find some top of the line 380's but still pushing big power. Once u get into big brushless turns from KV to HP. Like coke can brushless motors lol. They actually are the size of a soda can. From what I see there taking the KOS gas boat and converting them into brushless doing 75mph on twin cans. On a 55 inch hull so u can imagine the quickness of the ekos but in the size of the gas version. Also the segad conversion also.

Pass on the 3S and just get 4S from the start. Be careful about battery height because thats a problem in the EKOS. Buy the largest Mah you can fit, because run times are a problem with this boat. Relieve the foam from the hatch where the batteries sit. Buy Align battery straps from here at OSE store--they're the thinnest. The boat is a rocket and handles like a dream on clam water. MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL SHAFT SAVERS, or plan on having plenty of spare shafts, drive dogs, prop shafts, props, and prop nuts around, even though you can't get them, (they are out of stock until next mont--second postponement)! Run the Aluminum props that Venom recommends.
