Yes my boat was sent back to venom here in australia, but after reading about the problems other people have had with this boat, and the problems i myself had with the EKOS and the lack of parts backup i dont think i will be getting another one. Now im not bagging this boat but mine arrived with a damaged canopy, and a dead ESC that was not able to be replaced for over a month so the boat was sent back to venom.
These are problems i never had with my other brushless RTR boats, so it has left a bad tast in my mouth as the EKOS and the lipo's to run it cost me about $1000 .
I might just sit back and see what the other guys here on the forum have to say about this boat in the future.
So thank you Chris for trying to help me out but i will wait and see what other problems might emerge before getting a second EKOS.

Got my EKOS about a month or so ago. First time in the water the boat stoped dead in the middle of the pond and when I got her back in and opened the hatch that all to good stink and smoke was there to meet me. I called Venom (Jason) and I was told to check the motors and send in all that was bad. Well it was only the esc's that took a dive on me. Took about 3 weeks and the new esc's were here.... I thought before I touch anything I'm going to go with Venom LiPo's and not change anything, the last lipos were 6500 mAh 35C 3s Hyp's and I thought maybe I cooked the esc's with too much power flooding in. I got the 36mm alum props and was set to go! It is going to be 100% Venom, then I noticed NONE of the cell conectors matched up!!!! So back to the Deans I will go.... I tell ya this boat is going to drive me crazy!
We are getting close to water freezing temps here in Indiana soon and I just wanna see the darn thing run!

Got er all set to go and thought let me give her a once more good going over, I can't blow through the right side water lines... that also happens to be the side that the esc blew on... Nothing going through the waterjacket on the motor.
Anybody have info on a safe way to take the waterjacket off so I can check for blockages.
        Thanks, Ken

Theres really no way to take the water jacket off the motor yourself. I know when I got mine (and with several other members), the hoses going into the motor had to make such a sharp u-turn into the motor that they would get kinked. I have also see on other RTR boats, that when they install the water outlet on the side of the hull, they somehow got glue inside the nipple. I would try to poke a paper clip or something through just to make sure you dont have a blockage there.
I doubt your block will be inside the cooling jackets of either the motor or ESC, but there could be a chance it has happened

Please contact customer service for some assistance, dont try to take the motor apart or you will void the warranty.

My starboard ( right ) side is probably at least twice as hard to blow thru and I see no kinks. It's hard enough that I can't see water flowing thru it as is. Like I've said, I'm hung out to dry until spring now. Maybe I'll find something or someone will have an answer. Seems like a few others have mentioned that side having probs ?? ....... 1 EKOS ... 0 runs

This is like having a new girl thats hott and sexy as ever, but everytime you reach out to spend a lil private time with her she refuses to put out!!! I'm starting to think this stripper doesn't like me and she was only after my wallet! I'll give Mr. Jason another call today, but I think he is going to be getting sick of me. I just wanna see this pretty girl dance before the club (pond) closes!!!

Did you actually find something in the motor cooling circuit or just determine it was in the motor ?

I got a chance to call and talk to Jason from Vemon and he told me that they have had a few of the motors come in with the o-ring actually pinched between the cooling can and motor can just behind the hose nipples. I told him how bad I wanted to run the boat before the big chill comes into effect. He told me to send it to him ASAP as he will send the replacement ASAP aswell...
I would also like to mention that I have never sent in anything under warranty before, thinking that they would say the problems are the buyers fault for whatever reason, so I've always fixed the problems myself. Jason @ Venom has made me a true believer that there is such a thing as great customer support.

I've talked with Jason a couple times at Venom months back, seams like a decent guy...
but many are still waiting for parts that got smoked

                          King of Shaves report

My brother just bought a King of Shaves, his first Electric! He has many Gas and Nitro boats, both Cats and Monohulls. The boat is well built, fast and very nice looking. We have run it several times in the last few weeks in the marina of our local Lake and on a large pond. The boat handles extreemly well and it's glued to the water and in the calm water that we have run it in it just couldn't flip. I doubt it is much of a rough water boat however, but we haven't tested it yet. We have run it on 11.1v and 14.8v lipos. Don't bother with the 3s because it is such a fun Rocket on the 4S. There is probably 10+ mph difference in the two batteries. It is limited on how much battery size you can put in it, because of height restrictions and definetly weight! The boat at standstill with 3S batteries has water almost to the top of the transom. He has had 2 bad transmitters in just a few weeks but Venom has sent him replacements quickly. Only complaint; when you use hatch tape it pulls the green pin stripes off. I beleive the speed estimates given by Venom are correct for the 3S. We are waiting for our new GPS. Is he impressed with this Electric?.....YES!

Well I must say I love the boat, no problems with cooling water comes out after runs that I've had nice and warm, turns and handles great..my only issue is flex shaft which I lost on the second run. When I checked for tightness the coupler was still tight..so I think these flex shafts are garbage..does anyone know if you can use others of a 4mm size and length...Venom also I think you guys need to get on the ball with replacement products cause having only enough parts for complete boats isn't going to cut it. I've been waiting since early december for my parts and now they say not till Febuary..whats the deal. I mean don't you think parts will break on these boats and when they do people have to wait months to recieve replacements. Its not good business and nor is anyone else going to talk good about the service if they don't feel to themselfs it was good. Again this is an amazing boat but parts replacement sucks...we need to get on the ball with parts cause this is causing the company true failure....keep up the good work with the creation of new models(just keep up the work with replacement parts too)

It's interesting that you just lost your shaft--so did we and it cost me my twin Blackjacj 26--see description in the Blackjack posts. The king of Shaves was our rescue boat and mine flipped on a test run, and the KOS lost a shart pushing mine to Shore. By the tine we got a rescue boat (2days) the lake had frozen. I feel there is an easy fix for the KOS problem. One thing is that they come with no clearance between the drive dog and Stinger. There should be at least 4mm of clearance! (see several posts on this site). Second, there should be shaft savers on the shaft, (an rc wheel collar), between the motor collet and the shaft tube so that the shaft cannot exit the boat if it comes loose. make sure the wheel collar fits tight on the shaft or there will be a balance issue. 4mm shafts are available on ebay, both left and right rotation. Check (jhochueng). He's good to deal with.

that makes sense a collar or what yucould do is take a zip tie and pull it thru cutthen endsand when it ges loose it won't pull thru..either way venom needsto p there replacement parts cause there not gona sell product that have no aftermarket support...t I love this boat so I'll deal with i butI won' be buing anothe venom product...EKOS is a winner.
