Its about 1-3/4" from the bottom water inlet to bottom of rudder, so thats about a respectable cut. What did you use to cut?
Yup, would appreciate any feedback with respect to changes in speed and/or turning performance.

I traded a modded Zen for a RCMK Evo. I needed something a little more reliable for the Stryker Topgun II. I still run gassers, just not as much anymore. I love the plug n play with FE boats!!!! Gassers require a little more prep. I will always run FE's!!!!

You're certainly a trooper bud and im sure our friends will only benefit from that info!

With regards to our regular Sunday boating, more and more FEs are getting sidetracked due to strong winds & choppy water conditions - really common these summer months. Some, dont even bother in bringing their FEs - just their gas boats. Its challenging to find a suitable FE to possibly handle the conditions with decent performance! hahaha

How's the topgun compared to the F-41 Stryker? Is the R-42 better than both? Im looking for a Cat for my 2nd/next gas boat.

Im probably new to gas boats and my Lazer 45 is just a bit more than a month old now, so nothing much to do with it yet except charge my inboard 6v batt for a few minutes. Infact, I could charge it that sunday morning before I head down to the pond. Not having to charge Lipos or storage charge them after is kinda a relief most specially if you have a busy week.
But yeah, that plug-n-play stuff is unbeatable - nothing beats that instantaneous burst of speed! It also doesnt require a huge playground to run in. I guess they all have pros and cons, but its good to have both to satisfy your wants!

I just wanted to show Jason how I mounted my 180.

                180 002.jpg 180 005.jpg

I had to grind the ESC output posts so the wires could lay down for the turbine boxes.
Also note my battery T connections. This works perfectly with stock battery leads.

BTW Jason's CF looks nothing like that pieced together first try.

Hey, a respectable gas boat hull manufacturer is right up your alley and you're friends with the owner - so I dont see any bad side in that scenario.
A stock Zen nowadays is just a bit more than your regular Castle motor, a good HV esc or maybe 2-3 Lipo batts.

Not that it wouldn't fit,but I don't like cramming things together. And I'm big on as little wire as possible.

I may consider that,I sicked my bored buddy on finding new rental suites for me and he 's coming up with beach stuff. BIG ZEN FUN?

Shawn, I really like how you setup your esc! I think I might copy that setup. I love the minimum wire thinking. Thanks for the idea.
Mardon, the topgun handle wake better than the f41 would but the r42 is even better! The topgun is not nearly as fast as the f41 in hull design.

Your esc connections for the cell are backwards, Or is it me.

Well I said this before,I'll have to be pretty bored to solder 18 packs and all the ESC's.

Got the 1717 going good today.Logged a draw of 241 amps and an output of 5200 watts,36,000 rpm.Got numbers for the cat too.

So a T180a esc would not be able to handle a 1717?

Those are the peak numbers Mardon. But geez,5200 W is just shy of 7 HP.

Looking over the graph and averages the 180 should handle it.There are alot of 200 amp spikes but most is 120-140.
