There's really something about driving a big rc gas boat, eh?
This is not a rc boat video but thought I'd share with you guys a walk-around video of a 1/6 scale tank that my workers just finished:
We have been doing these stuff for the past 12yrs now but this is the first time I did a video of it as a supplement for my clients who markets these stuff.
Ok, so now that my workers have caught up with previous projects - I was wondering from my friends here in this thread if you think I should kick start with that 37" Cat you all dared me to do?
It seems this little thread of ours here in OSE have been quiet lately and I kinda missed the rest of the gang posting here like before.
Yeah, I know life have been busy lately im sure....... but I hope you guys are still here to see this 37" Cat (Komodo?!) project till completion!
So what say you?Comment

IMO the tupperware lid is a must have. It really does work! You will be upside down at some point unless you are putting a wimpy motor in it. I doubt that!
The boat stand is easy to build if you are a wood worker. Just some foam pipe insulation needed which you can buy at your local Lowe's or Menard's. We can feed you the dimensions. I like to take cheap foam beverage coolers and cut them up to fit the profile. Simple and durable.
Added a couple of pictures of the stand so you can see what it looks like.

Ohh,that will be close. How tall is the mounting area there Mac.I've just been on a mission looking at stingers for the spare Gieco hull that I got for $60.Yup it is gonna be a twin because I can.I did have the measurements on those stingers somewhere.Where were they?
HOR has the measurements. It looks like 60mm from transom to the center of the pedestal. There may also be these guys here for the DF Explorer http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...?prod=df-90040
We'll have to find the measurements on those too though. The olive green colour could work with the dragon.Last edited by srislash; 08-25-2012, 12:27 AM.Comment

What do you think would be the minimum setup for a twin? For example if I use 2x4s batts, 2x180a (each 4s per esc), what size motors and kv rating would you recommend?
What about 2x120a esc? Just thinking of using some available stuff that I still have laying around the spare box.
If single drive, I still have a bnew T600 outrunner and/or a Leo 4082, a 180a and 2x3s for a 6s setup. Althou, 6s might challenge the upper limits of the T180a esc?Attached FilesComment

120's would be plenty Mac.Most of the tame setups that I have logged are only 80 amps per side. And that gets 60mph.Motors are gonna depend.I'll tell you that my TP 4082's are lots of power. You could easily go smaller...
I am thinking 4s per side but in series with the 1100kv Castle outrunners and a pair of Turnigy 80 amp HV units.
We can find stingers for that. The ones that I get from Frank for the Geico need to be drilled out for 3/16 from 4mm.If I can pull that off then we will have a couple of options for stingers for the Komodo.
BTW Is that the first pull?Let's see the inside..Comment

First pull? Nahh, we havent molded it yet - the one in the pics is still the plug/prototype. My worker said he'll be cutting the canopy opening later this afternoon - so hope thats on schedule.
Do send me an email with the links of those motors - and where to get counter-rotating flex & prop.
But if I decide to go single, maybe I'll feel better with a bit stronger esc than the T180a. I know you can hook me up with one bud! FC perhaps?Comment
