I am very surprised no-one else has said anything about this post.

Actually a couple people answered and straightened it out, however it would be nice if Team Lucas could edit that and get it straightened out for us newbies. I can just see somebody setting up like that.

The first picture the one that says WRONG WAY is the CORRECT WAY that you want your shafts and props for inward prop direction (top of props turn inward toward each other.

If you run your props turning inward with your shafts the way that the second picture is ; you shafts will start to unwind and cause binding within the shaft tubes,
        = High AMP's = BURNT equipment.

If you want to run your props turning outwards (top of the props turn to the outside of the boat) - set your shafts like the second picture. Remember to reverse the motors.

If the original post is incorrect I ask that the poster correct it in the post too and not just the current posts. If someone stumbles across the wrong info then that could be bad for them. Thx

Hello Rafael, my name is Ian, I am a Brit living in Manila
I am the proud owner of the only Zelos 36 in the Philippines! We are a happy bunch of enthusiasts in Manila, who are learning what (and how to do it) from the internet and (really useful) forums such as this one.

I have a couple of questions for you:
water cooling. I have read in this forum the questions about heating and water flow. I too have noticed limited water coming out of the side of the hulls, and notwithstanding your comment that there is no need for a fast flow, I do have some concerns. We play on dirty water, and our climate is always hot and humid. I have done as you suggested and taken a hobby knife and removed paint from the entry holes and tried to open up the front of the hole in particular, to encourage a bit of a "scoop" effect. As far as I can tell, the 36 is the only Pro Boat with water intakes like these, the Zelos 46 (single motor I know), has the water intake on the rudder. When the 36 is bouncing around on wake, it cannot be pulling in much water. I am using 100% stock setup at present, and only doing flat out straight passes, yet I have melted the foam on the underside of the canopy with my Y lead. I don't have a temperature gauge yet - on my list to buy - so cannot tell you what my temperatures are. So its just a bit of a worry for me. I do have series leads on order so I will be able to fit four 3S batteries in the boat soon which I understand should help the temperature issues

Regarding the inevitable upgrades, Can you advise the best next-step motor to consider? I have seen reference to Voracity and Impulse 31 motors - what exactly are the specs for these?

It looks like from this forum the Octura X447 props are a sensible upgrade - am I correct?

All advice gratefully received. It's a fantastic rtr boat, and has got a 5 star rating from everyone in our group. Even the drain hole got a mention

and a short video of the boat is here:

Our current lake is fairly small and we are on the lookout for a bigger pond!

Different subject - I know Pro Boat also makes rc sailing boat. For the past 4 years in Australia I have been developing a hydrofoiling sailing trimaran. One metre long, one metre wide, we have recorded 28.8kph. If you wanted to produce something unique, this could be it! Video is here:

Hi, welcome to the forum and congrats on your boat. I created this thread for people doing mods to their boats and posting about their endeavors. Please create your own thread to ask questions about your boat or read up on the matters your asking about as they have been discussed. Unfortunately this isn't a thread to ask Raphael questions in. There actually is a general zelos thread you could do that in. We do appreciate you joining in it's just this thread is being cluttered with unnecessary and off topic posts. Thanks!

mini40man. you may want to look at the "Zelos fast list thread", to get a idea of what props are being used.

I have a question: Are you all divulging little tweaks. After research of real boats I found how to keep nose down if your porpoising . I'm pretty sure you fast guys know this, but never seen it in thread.

Its all in your power/thrust vs center of gravity vs weight vs strut angle vs cahones... For me in that order.. No two hulls are identical though. My first hull wanted to take flight around 60 no matter what I did to it. This one stays planted just fine at 80+ but I still have tuning to do. Thing runs flat as can be at 25% power and above but likes to run wet and hop on the risers if I let out to more than 25%ish. When it gets put back together and I grow a pair to air it out the fine tweaks are simple, CG, strut angle and patience.

I think I read all the treads here, but never seen one about prop rotation. I adjusted CG, adjusted drives and still only going 65ish, then I read about duel props rotation and how it effects the boat. Duel props spinning inward, draws the transom down, hence porpoise effect. Outward spinning duel props lift the transom. I tried the idea, and yes boat ran flat and I gained 3mph. I just cant understand no one would post that here.

So it went faster which way? Inward or outward

I believe Rafael did touch on the subject of inward vs outward. Not putting words in anyone's mouth but, I recall him saying inward was more stable during testing. I could be wrong or saw it on another thread.
