OK so don't shoot me if this is a dumb question lol but I'm new hear, how/what are you re-timing to 7 degrees. I know most of you are extremely into this deal but I just don't understand the balancing of the prop. My boat has a drive dog with a alen set screw hanging off the side. I would think that is a bigger Balance problem to solve over a prop. Love to hear your advice.

Timing is set in the ESC (electronic speed controller) with a programming card or possibly even the transmitter (not sure on this model). Send your props (or a set of spares) to a pro, like Chris, aka Dasboata to be sharpened and balanced.

A drive dog is only between 8-10mm diameter, any balance probs with that are minimal as the dog is close to the centre axis of the propshaft. The prop blades on the other hand are a much larger diameter & further out from the axis.

I completely under stand that, i think over time the drive dog will and may be the problem with the bearings. i have already fond double set screw dog's that i will be replacing mine with. I know Im probably over thinking it but that's must me Im a centrifical mech. and when i have a impeller that i need to be balanced i send the shaft spacers and even the nut. it was more of a has any one thought of this tipe of question. Im new to boats so im learning a lot from you guys. so thanks

lol thanks fweasle for the that, but im fermilar with a ESC. I have tuned timing on motors but there is not a place to do it on the motor that i could see, so that was why i asked. I have seen several people talk about the programming cards but now one has really said witch one really works.

Brushed vs brushless motors. With brushless the motor is fed with a different sinewave. The stator relationship is different and is all controlled by the esc. The hobbywing program card works on the dynamite 120s.

You can balance a prop to perfection, you could if you so wished balance the dog as well. What do you think happens to all that balance perfection with a surface prop is slapping against the water & varying amounts of the blades in & out of the water. Good example is a 3 bladed prop at times has only 1 blade in the water to then having 2 of the blades in the water.

Posting this for a new member. Since it's the modding thread, rather than make a new thread, until he can post pictures of his build and do his own thread.

hello my name is dallas i just bougt a zelo 36.i currently have a 48 zelo with a 12s esc and cap pac with a custom hand wound lehner 23 hp motor in it with a custom prop.according to lehenr and steves speed caculator this single prop should run 154 mph but i have not had it out yet.i even matched all the water lines with orange and put in a futaba receicer for my 4pks-r radio.if you like i can send pics.now i just got my 36 today and stripped everything out of it.i the motors were custom made one of first ever made boat motors made by jose cordova at cordova research for if you know they hold all the speed records in speed run cars which i also build.the one car i just finished a mugen mrx6 on 12s ran 173 first pass on low gearing and i have 4 speed run cars a 1/5 scale electric fg conversion also with a lehner 3060 motor.size of a can of coke.but anyway i have two 8s esc so each motor will run on 8s and the cordova motors are 1440 so the motors r 4inchs long and for both cost me 1000 dollars but each one will produce 12 hp at 87 000 rpm.when i told stevve at offshore it blew his mind he did even know what prop to start me on.so i am just letting u know a twin 8s for a total of 16s 36 is being built as we speak and each mototr running on 8 s will be upward of close to 3000kv.i was asked not to tell exact amout but this this is going to be retardly crazy and cant wait to post pics and a build thread but because i am new it wont let me post or do anything so i thought i could tell u and maybe u can copy and paste this fornow until the mods let me start posting.well thanks a bunch and hope to have pics up soon it hould be a beast.according to the offshore speed calculator it should do 197 mph and i know i know thats ina perfect world so i am not saying it will do that but it says it has the power,,rpm and prop to do it.once again thank andwill chat soon. i want to go after the single prop world recod with my 48 zelos and the duel with my 36 inch.wish me luck.i will need it.lol

We should contact the world record holder (I think it's 158mph) and let this guy know he's doing it all wrong. All he needs is a zelos, 3000kv motors and 8s per motor and he would have gone almost 200mph. Wow, I had no idea!

This has got to be the most outlandish post I've ever read. At least it cheered me up and made me lol. I'm thinking he's referring to the speeds in scale mph. That would make much more sense.
Well hopefully he chimes in so we can ALL get an understanding.
