There's a hole at the center of earth where the rest of the world sinks but i stand still...
Kevin......grab yourself an Eagle Tree GPS......fantastic for any boat and IMO is "good"for the club LOL. Will log all information needed and no worry of taping a GPS to the hull. Very very accurate as well with the new ones recording 10 min. or so I think and you can save all the recordings in a file for "proof" if you will. Its all I ever use in my fast boat. You will love it!!!
PT-45, 109mph, finally gave up after last bad crash
H&M 1/8 Miss Bud 73 mph
Chris Craft 16 mph
Thanks gary. Can I just get the gps, or do I have to buy the whole system? I kind of thought it was just an expansion to the system.......
The setup is unquestionably capable, I really don't think anybody wouldn't believe me, but fwiw, I really don't care if somebody doesn't believe me, I do this for and by myself primarily.
Kevin, the ET is indispensable. I run the RPM sensor off the motor collet and the GPS expander. This with the pack voyage and motor amps covers the bases. Dashboard rules too!

I do the same thing bud...5:30am on a work day I will make a 30 min drive make two passes then 35min back to work all to see if she has gone at least 1-2 mph faster. Its the best time as far as no wind/perfect water and no one around....and I do it just for the chase of more speed. !!! Pain in the ass getting up that early for me but works out the best. For what its worth... I can say that day to day my boat will run 103-105 almost every single time so the GPS IMO is rock solid. You can get anything you want for the system and I think 150.00 will get you the logger and recorder to start. If you need sensors I will be more than happy to send what you need for free. I have LOTS of spare parts. LOL
By the way where are you in Mass. I have family that just moved there so I am always shooting there to visit and would love to find a new big lake.

With data logging in the esc already covering most of that stuff, I don't really think I could justify the money. Plus, the Garmin 201's I have can quickly swap between boats.
I am in Canton, MA. About 17 miles Southwest of Boston. If you ever make your way out here let me know. I have an impressive off road 1/8 track here also if you're into cars.
Nice! I have tested several GPS units and i have run two at the same time in the boat. One brand showed under 80mph and the garmin locked in 89mph. I just don't trust them as a true speed. Great for tuning and getting close though. I am building a timing system for SAW racing which direct beam break and i will see how truly accurate they are

I will say this, I have two of these garmin 201's...at the same time I went down the road and compared to my cars speedo. They were all dead nuts on with each other. Then I radared my car (it's only 2 years old too) and the radar read rhe same as my speedo. So I dunno, maybe one of those gps you had was a cheapie junk one. I trust the garmins.
32" carbon rivercat single 4s 102mph, 27” mini Rivercat 92mph, kbb34 91mph, jessej micro cat(too fast) was
I have 3 garmin 201's. 2 have been in this boat and recorded within 1 mph(a few tenths really) of each other with two different setups, at 2 different speeds. Out of curiosity though, I will have to take all 3 for a ride in the truck as an experiment though.
I have, however, turned one on end route to the pond, and it looked spot on to my truck speedo in my 2013 Nissan frontier.
Yes, they are really very accurate, I have a Garmin eTrex and a 201 plus a cheap SkyRC GPS which is now sold on Towerhobbies as a Big5 brand. They all tested out to the same speed and is only less than half mile difference with my CTS-V.
