Only the tenth set of packs run in this boat.uploadfromtaptalk1431710280477.jpguploadfromtaptalk1431710296988.jpguploadfromtaptalk1431710314062.jpg
102 mph first pass, 103 mph second pass. Is gps good enough to get me in "the club"?

If you ask some people it's not. You must attend an event and run through the traps for them to acknowledge. I'm ok with the gps reading myself. Good job and carry on!

Although you are brave taping the gps to the outside. I did that twice and lost a gps....twice. Lol

Good job Kevin, knew it wouldn't be long. I've used duct tape to hold the GPS on also. Crazy what we do just know where we're at.

I had Velcro, clear packing tape (that stuff sticks like crazy) AND a tether on the last one....still got ripped off and broke the tether. Lol. I then said fiberglass hatch for now on. Lol

The gps is actually velcro'd on, with tape, and a safety wire that goes inside the hull and loops around something. I actually did blow over on the first pass because I didn't lock a lipo sled down tight and it shifted back lol. Boat was upside down for a few minutes, gps came loose but one side of tape was holding it still. I'm waiting to hear back from Radtek, he said he could make me a FG hatch in the matching green gelcoat.

Hey Luck,- Now that was funny right there, ballbuster.....:)
Travis, I know some would need to see it through the traps, and I know that's a different story altogether, but that's not in the cards for me anytime soon. I'm content with what I do, my main goal is progress and learning, and the gps helps me gauge that progress in the speed department.

Well put. I'm in the same "boat" (lol) as you. Feel exactly the same way. The gps let's you know if a change you made is good or bad.

Let me know in the hatch. If he can make one I'll buy one too and get one of these hulls. That the main reason I have not bought one yet.

Travis, Radtek already told me he can do it, I told him yes the other day, just waiting to hear back from him to send a payment. I'm pretty sure the hulls are made to order, so I'm sure if you talked to Keith he could probably have it done with the hull, even if it costs extra. If you build one, I would suggest going with Keith's drives and hardware, they are designed with this hull in mind and obviously the work great together.

Oh, and fwiw this was with a set of 4s/4800 Revo silver labels.

I would go with Kevlar. Stronger and the GPS will still work.

Congrats on the achievement. It's rewarding to hit a target few have hit whether on a sanctioned course or just in a local pond with a GPS. Making several passes with close results is a good indicator it is not an errant reading.

After I posted that I text Keith and he said the hull is made to order and I can get it with a fiberglass hatch. I plan on using the hardware he offers. Thx!

Congrats Kevin... never a doubt here my friend.
Many talk about it, but few actually do it.

In terms of whether or not GPS will get you in the club, it depends on the club. It will not get you into Costco or Sam's club, I've tried. Doesn't work in VIP rooms in Vegas, it won't get you into the mile high club, and it won't get you a SAW record (or in any of the top-secret clubs associated with those). As far as the "100mph RC boat" club, absolutely!

By the way... I haven't seen the "GPS isn't accurate/doesn't count" argument posted in years. If someone still says that, I must be missing it.
