Yes there are good and bad of every type of motor, I have use some Hyperion outrunners in RC crawling that put the inrunners to shame for torque and consistency of performance. Outrunners got a bad rap and most guys just took a few at their word that it was not the way to go. Kudos for those guys who continue to buck the status Quo!

Nice cooling unit. I only say that it seems to be in very large boats that they work well. Why not try something in a small set up and see how it does.
They do fit the bill for big torque for big set ups.

Darin had set N2 speed records by going the more torque route by using a tranny. and swinging a big prop. That is exactly what a good quality outrunner should give you. small boat larger prop and high speed. that is the theory anyway.
Throttle control will be important and having an esc or radio that will allow you to dial in the throttle response will be the key.

There ia guy in these forums that built a cambells custom hydro and had a small neu in it and he switched to a small scorpion OR ans he loves it.......it was around a 2020 4000kv.....do a search for the build ....he used the little etti 380 water cooled motor mount
