Thanks for posting HydroJerry, I really appreciate your input and experience.
I hear lots about the changing of the rudder pos, and the size and power of the steering servo VS prop wash...
I have a lot to learn about props I guess. Seems to me a well designed 5 blade would be the go.... Ive only worked on propellers for tug boats and trawlers in real life.
From my experience you will most times get cavitation in the turns with a cat at this width as they "drag the ass" when turning hence the factory design of the prop wash on the rudder.
    Im rambling now.
I look forward to your responses.
    Thanks, Tristan

      Hi Jerry;
Could you tell me why you offset the rudder on the Genesis, what benefits are there when doing this. Thanks
      Al

Hay guys,, my genesis had the problem of cutting to the wright under high speeds, i tryed many of different props and didnt seem to fix it so i then changed the servo but still the same problem so now ive changed the pushrod and offset the rudder but its cold hear now so i wont be testing it much to see if any of this fixed it...

That looks like a windscreen washer motor... I have a few of those laying around..... mmmmmmm, I didnt think they pulled water well at all, I will have to do some testing.
That thing fly's on 6s with the turnigy motor man, looks somewhat unstable! Did you get a read on the speed it was pulling, its definitely moving!?
I broke the sacrificial nylon screw when I ran over a patch of lillys down at the river this morning D'oh but Ive fixed that already. Im carefully estimating the speed of mine at 70kmh, will get a hot wheels radar gun soon and see what its actually doing.

I will make the planned mods I have to run separate circuits 1 through motor & mount, and the other for the ESC, with 2 outlets. Hopefully the rudder picks up enough to feed both circuits sufficiently, will know soon enough.
                Cheers mate.
yeah its very similar to a windscreen washer motor. It wont self prime, but as soon as the boat is moving i switch it on and it works perfectly from then on. actually get a pretty strong stream of water out of the outlet.

In that vid of mine, it was a bit too choppy to hit full speed. bloody thing had the prop out of the water half the time. on glassy water it looks much faster than that

It did not take me long to break that nylon screw either on crap in the water. never ended up replacing it. did not really need to as there was enough pressure in the attachment to hold the rudder under normal conditions.

I have a rudder for the 1400 genesis and 2 stinger drives to fit to mine. looking at hacking the hull apart to make eveything fit, then use it as a blank to make a new mold and recast the hull with carbon kevlar. only thing i need a the moment is time..... should be very unique when its done with the 1400 running gear on a 1045 hull and over 5kw of power on tap........

                    More like this.

Love the rudder with the faux hydraulics

Same stringers as the pics above but want to retain the mounts if possible.

It's not going to be easy to make it all fit. But where there is a will there is a way.....

Quick question guys, whats the main reason for upgrading the flex drive? is it strength reasons or for easier fittment of props? I sleeve my props so its easy to fit anything to the stock set up.
Would you run a m445 with a turnigy aquastar 3974 2200kv on 5s with the stock 4mm flex drive or would this be considered unsafe?

                        Thanks in advance, Tristan.

There are 2 solutions for those stingers:

                          - reducing the lenght at trandom side

                          - making a small part part to move position of this part :

Tristan ive never realy heard anything bad about the 4mm flexes asfar as strength, most replace the for easy removel to grease there shafts and for 3/16 props fitting on them,, after you grease the two piece 4mm and then a one piece 3/16 shaft youll probly switch to the 3/16 also,, its just so much easyer to grease them and remove them to clean!!!

Thanks heaps Jerry I'll stick with the stock drive for now then, trying to spend as little as possible. I have another boat that has the 1 piece set up, much easier to clean/grease for sure! however if something fails the whole flex drive/prop shaft assembly ends up on the bottom of the lake, with the boat if you cant get it it in time LOL. For now I only have to grease/clean the shaft when charging and that takes about 4hrs (2x2s 4AH and 2x2s 8AH), so it gives me something to do in the mean time.
Thanks again mate, I was starting to wander if I had been ignored for asking a stupid question :)
