Sounds pritty good Andrew,, well for the 6s thing i run mine on 2x5s 5000 lipos with the Leopard 4074 2200kv motor, SF 200a esc and a m445 prop and mine gets alittle hot after a super long run time but dude, it runs out of lake before it tops out!!!! I was getting it ready to run tomorrow but i broke another Octura motor coupler ''Dam'' thats the second one ive broken, so now i cant run her tomorrow,, O well..

So I am new to brushless boats and I am pretty sure I am going with the genesis. I have a couple of questions about the boat and brushless set ups in general. I have a brushless heli but it is pretty much stock so I don't really know what the motor rating or battery ratings mean.

My first question on the Genesis is what is a good set up where I can get good speed and decent run time?

I would also like an ESC reccomendation, one that I can upgrade batteries and motors and not have to change the ESC also.

And the big question is I don't really understand the battery and motor rating. Is there a good place to read an overview or something?

Yes there is but probably not in this post, its more for people that have the genesis and are trying to get it better :)
Just make sure you read up about everything first. and dont assume that because the boat looks like its been put together, it actually is. its a safe step with any "RTR" boats, is to rebuild them as soon as you get them.
Id probably advise maybe a Pro Boat for your first boat, they seem to be allright, otherwise, the genesis on 4S with a 2200KV 4074 is pretty good, and 4S packs are a lot better value. you could also do 2 3S packs in either side and run 6S, but then you would get shorter run time. you would also need a new prop. and motor mount... etc. just search for Genesis on this site, theres a lot of guys who have bought them and re done them

Hi im upgrading my Genesis and my next step is the motor. Im sticking to 4S as i dont want to worry about new batterys yet, and my next purchase will be a leopard 4074 (2200kv), or 4082 (1800kv) motor. Just wondering what size props are run on these size motors, as the x438 im running will probably not match the new motor. Was thinking about the x442 Cheers.

for a 4074 2000 kv i found that a M645 works very good. X445 and X645 also works well for me on 4s

Why not think about the turnigy XK-4074 2000kv, quite a bit cheaper than a leopard and mine turns an x645 prop no prob

Yeah the X442 is good, I had a X445 and found it slightly too big for a single drive setup, lots of little things were happening when i used it (which a lot of people here never seemed to mention)
E.g. the flex cable in the collet would Always slip, handing was crap, speed didnt increase either, the 442 was much better.
If your staying with 4S id go for the 4074 HOWEVER im now using the turnigy 4074 2000kv on 5S
Id stick with 4S and the 2200KV though, its a good setup, the packs fit in each sponson of the hull, weight is down

for me running a M645 gave better speed. diddent effect the handeling at all and as far as slipping in the collet i have not had problems with that. but i have upgraded to .150 flex all the way and im running the 2000 kv motor.

I very nearly brought the turnigy XK-4074 2000kv the other day but thought i might do a bit more reasearch first. at half the price its certainlly very attractive. Hopefully the micro water pump and 3rd Ch switch i ordered turn up today as my std motor runs a bit hot

I've never run a leopard but you can see from my YouTube vid how it performs. Even with the x645 prop it runs cool. The only thing that gets hot on that setup is my connectors and they are ec5. I will defo be buying more of those motors.

Finally decided on the Turnigy 4082 1600kv motor and will go to 6s with the turnigy marine 180 amp esc. Got a CNC machined prop coming too but expect it will be too big at 47mm but about half the price i would have paid locally so thought its worth a try. Nothing worse than waiting on new parts to arrive.

The mini water pump i installed works an absolute treat, and keeps the std setup nice and cold. Although i have worked out i need to upgrade the 4mm bullets to the motor to 5.5mm as they get bloody hot.

I think that those stingers are made for the GENESIS hull. They are smaller and made for 3/16" shaft than the model Genesis 1400. I measured and that looks ok, I prefer to be sure. If you have a Genesis
