Rick, do you see problems with water coming in having such a short tube?
    That's my concern here.
I'll post pics tonight of my two layout considerations

Is the Teflon in any way partially responsible for that?
I'm not planning to use one

          Very Nice!
My $.02 is that a lot depends on the style of the motor mount or whether there is a set of stringers. With provision for mounting the ESC on top of the motor, it makes sense to have the motor in the rear and batteries in the middle and ahead of the motor. TFL or the new style Kintec mount precludes this arrangement. If one is going to mount the ESC ahead of the motor, then just like M-A-W said, with the batteries on the side, exact motor location is less crucial as there is much room for the batteries to move and achieve desired COG.
I had a similar mount as Rick's and here is my MHZ Lizard Xtreme:DSCN2988_2448.jpgDSCN2985_2445.jpg

Building mostly cats, the tray fits from tunnel to outer wall and contacts all the way down (of course after narrowing them on the belt sander) and are epoxied all the way down. On cats that have a much wider sponson (cheetah) I've used the tabs in conjunction with glueing to the tunnel. I'll be making my own trays soon on my CNC router so I wouldn't have to worry with tabs anymore. Pm me your address and how many tabs you need and I'll send them to you.

My personal preference is the first picture.
                BTW, your inlay looks fabulous!

                  Motor in the rear.
Yeah it would make things more accessible

Front mount makes the nose plow threw the chop better . Going to re do Rumdog's Rico front mount.

Travis, cool builds you are doing lately by the way! just noticed you mentioned epoxying lipo mounts in the hull, have you ever thought of using something like wurth windscreen adhesive? it holds miles better and wont crack if you have a hard crash. Almost impossible to come loose but can easy be cut out with a box cutter :) Would be interested in what kind of CNC router you are building/running, (a big passion of mine, or use to be anyway lol)

I was thinking about trying urethane windshield adhesive.
It's black and flexible. I wonder if it would work ok....
