I would havegiven my left ball sack for one of those Ken Haines setup boards, I was salivating over it at the Nats...I have one place local trying to get me a piece of Corian.... soon I hope...
I tried a jig for a whip but it was too hard to deal with sitting down all the time.

It's cut from a chunk of Corian and has a slot for a turn fin so you can drop a rigger on there to check your angles and such. Really works well. Finally got my big Whip to stay on the water again using the board.

We'll have to temp skin the deck and use the curve of the boat to mark the cut line. The canopy will require a bunch of work before I we do anything with it. It's awfully thin. Less than 20 thousands in spots. I have that part figure out though. Another job for Ty! haha He did really will with measuring sticks and epoxy. Better than I thought he would.

I'll post picks of the progress on the canopy. No work on it tonight. Scouts.

I've been to 4 different stores, even bought an HDF piece from a cabinet maker and all were $hiet. I got lucky with the MDF board for my Q-Whip but, I'm very pickey. Once I have a board I can whip it uppfast. Everyone saw my hip 40 build andthey never thought It would make it to the Nat's. It did and took 3rd. Patience has it's virtues.

Back to Terry's 1/10th Sorry Dude..

No worries. That's the beauty of it being MY thread. We can poop all over it if we want.

best bet, is buying a piece of granite about 2ft x 4ft. You can get scrap pieces from any fabricator.

Is marble any easier to find?

There's a granite top store on 23 mile road not to far from the pond if any of you locals are looking. East of M53 on the south side. Just wont have a slot for riggers but if you take the fin off it wont matter.

When I get home later I'll make more calls. Corian is not so heavy.

I'm building the same boat and here's the cowl from RC Boatworks to give you the idea of the height. The driver should be sitting just in front of the back of the sponsons.
Also I almost missed the dropped part of the front belly pan that was changed when the kit was revised, it doesn't show on ML's build thread.
But there are dashed lines printed on the sides for the basswood strips.

My canopy looks taller than that and it's only 10th scale. I'm so tempted to just make a mold the way I want it. It's not like I'm going to mass produce it so the mold could be cheesy.

Then I can make the canopy from unobtainium or what ever.

I believe Ken briefly thought about selling them but they would cost a small fortune to ship.

If you have the plans, can you please measure the height of the canopy? Then I can reverse math myself to the right dim for 10th scale.
