Span the motors up for the first time today!
Will post a short video soon.
    Almost ready for a maiden.
The Lipo charger took a bit of working out, but got there in the end.
There is a "discharge" setting on the charger with a range of 0.1 to 10 amps, can anyone tell me what this is for? Is it only for when you use the storage mode on the charger?
Also, I'm charging the batteries to 80% to try and make them last longer, is this a good idea or am I being to cautious? Why is the charge range from 10 to 120%? I have been reading many forums regarding Lipo charging and it can be quite confusing to start with.
Solved the antenna wire problem, juts mounted the receiver in a different position, I think I mounted the CF centre plate a bit far forward, but it works ok and to mount it further back would have been tricky as I would have had to adjust all the wires on the ESC.
Really pleased so far I have a great sense of achievement now!

Discharge is not the same of storage. In the storage mode most chargers keep all cell's battery charged at 3,85V that means something around 50% of its full capacity. You cant be concerned about charging your batteries at 100% just use the balancing mode that keeps,or try to keep. all cells at the same voltage.BTW what charge are you using?

thanks grsboats, i'm using a robbe Power Peak Twin EQ-Bid, seems a great charger but quite complicated, there are lots of setting to figure correctly. so you think it is ok to charge the batteries to 100%?
Boat is now finished and ready for a maiden run this Friday hopefully!
I made a small stand out of some plastic tubing which was real easy to do and works well.
I'm going to run the boat 2-3 times then strip it for paint and make a couple of small changes, like move the center CF tray back and adjust the connectors on the motors.
Very excited now, hope it goes well, i have my flippers (fins) and a mask and snorkel in case of a disaster!261020141833.jpg261020141836.jpg261020141837.jpg

Nice job with your boat and good luck with her. Charge your battery 100% and don't discharge them to low, that's what hurts them more in my opinion. Awesome boat.

Just got back home from the first run.
All I can say is wow. Having never run a high power brushless boat before I was totally stunned by the power and performance.
I only ran for a few minutes and then stopped went back home to check everything.
I found the steering harder to control than I expected because of the huge distance the boat travels in such a short space of time, I guess I just need practice.
With this kind of boat do people usually adjust the sensitivity of the steering to make the boat easier to control?
My friend and I Bob took a video but for some reason the camera failed and didn't save it......
There was a small dribble of water in each sponson when I opened up the hatch, is this normal?
I will do a few more runs to get everything set up properly and then strip the boat for paint.
A big thank you to Manuel for shipping me the parts and specifying the motors etc, and thanks to Keith for the t shirt, Kent for the CF parts and decals and of course Hanspeter for the hull.
I will post a video hopefully next Friday on my next day off.
I have a big sense of achievement now and can really appreciate how much work is needed to make a top end boat.
My hands were shaking during the first run but I got the boat out of the water without damage and am looking forward to the next run.Tom maiden 1.jpgTom maiden.jpg

Conrad's on your 1sr run, my hands would have been shaking too. You only ran a couple of minutes, I was curious how low the battery's were after the run. The water behind you sure looks nice and blue. Nice job getting her together, it is a nice achievement.

                    I have just bought a L/R pair of propshop GP/4714/3 in S/S.
Has any one run these props before, propshop told me they are an equivalent of Octura X447s.
Unfortunately one of the X447s got slightly damaged at the pond last weekend although I think I have managed to fix it enough to be ok.
By the way, propshop were brilliant, they shipped to Saudi Arabia by DHL for me, I called them on Tuesday and the props arrived on Sunday in Jeddah! Will definitely order from them again, the 3 bladed S/S props look great too.
