    HPR 06 in Saudi Arabia

    Hi all,
I am just about to place an order for a Bullet proof HPR 06 with a Kevlar Cowl so I can use a GPS in side the hull.
Manuel Wenny has been really helpful with this and has recommended a set up for me.

    Specification will be as follows:
Full carbon interior from Kent Lauritsen in Australia
    Motors:
LMT 2240/7 HiAmp, LK and 8mm shaft, with water jackets and rear support rings
    ESC:
Either Turnigy Marine 180A with some extra caps or MBP-RC Flier ESC 8S 250A
    Lipos:
    2x 6S Zippy 5000 45C
    Props:
For show and display from PropShop UK CRC 4512 props, either 4-blade or 5 blade, for real running Octura X447 Andy Brown
    Servo:
    Savöx SC 1251MG
    couplers:
    8 to 5mm SZK type from MBP-RC
    flex shaft:
5mm flex shaft set from Gundert, plus suitable teflon liner and brass or aluminium stuffing parts

When I get the hull in a few weeks, I will post some pictures and any tips or advice would be great.

Any comments on the set up?

    Hi Everyone,
Can I have some advice please?
Manuel has recommended the Octura X447 props from Andy Brown through looking on the internet I have seen there is a 2 and 3 blade version of this prop available. Does anyone have any suggestions on this - which should I go for?
Also regarding the ESC, I am tempted to go for the Turnigy 180 A because of cost, but i'm worried about having to install extra Caps. I have seen there is now a version 2 and version 3 of this ESC available that claims to have a "bigger" cap bank. Would I still need extra Caps with the latest version of this ESC?
Does anyone have a circuit diagram of how to install extra Caps on this ESC and a link to where I can buy the extra Caps?
Or should I just go for the MBP-RC Flier 8S 250A ESC and spend the extra money?
    Any feedback would be appreciated!
    Thanks
    Tom

Flier 8s esc seems to be really good judging from reviews I have read. Thats where I would be putting my money. As for props the x447 will work well eventually you'll be able to prop up most likely. Escs are usually worth the bit extra it sucks burning one and it can do damage to your hull.

Thanks for you opinion. You are probably correct, maybe I should bite the bullet and spend the extra first time around + I would be able to run 8S!
Any advice on a good quality simple 2 channel radio system? I need to get a new one, my existing one is sooo old. Still works but I really need a replacement.

Quick update, I have now ordered the ESCs from Modellbaupirat, I went for the MBP-RC Flier 8S 250A, I thought it would be better and spend the extra money over the Turnigy 180A.
I also ordered the 8 to 5mm SZK couplers.
Manuel is kindly getting the Lehners and hopefully the building materials I need, water pick ups, Velcro, connectors etc etc.
Now remaining is the Andy Brown X447s, batteries, transmitter, receiver and charger and the parts from Kent!
I'm still thinking of a design for the paint work, I'd like to get a custom air brush job but posting the hull to the USA and getting it back again through customs in Saudi may be a pain in the ass so I will probably go for some graphics from Kent.

            which props?

Any advice on what props? Should I go for the 2 or 3 blade Octura X447s?
Which would place more load on the motors?

Kent has done a fantastic job designing the decals and the internal CF parts.
After much head scratching I decided to go for a "Rolex" theme, sort of inspired by the "Tag" theme that Kent created previously.

X447 are only available as 2-blade pair. There is an X447/3, but no X447/3-R is available. The only 3-blade pair offered from Octura are the X450/3, the rest are 2-blade pairs. And please not try to use 8S on that motor, thats too much rpm

                  regards,
                  Manuel

That's going to look great. Kent just did quite a bit of parts for me for several boats. You will be extremely pleased.

@ Scott, very kind thank you!!!.... I hope Tom will be pleased. I think it will be a cool boat as I personally like the plain stealth looking boats. (not that yours don't look amazing)

I ordered some carbon fibre fabric, hatch tape, tubing and hatch bolt kit from Keith Bradley Boats and got a free T shirt! I will be sure to wear this for the maiden!
                          Thanks Keith!
I also received some props from Swan Precision castings in the UK, otherwise known as Prop Shop, they are 4251 cleaver 5 blade in S/S. Nicely made but expecting them to come more polished than they are, not complaining though I can clean them up further myself.
Also got the Savox 1251MG servo and some leads.
Kent from Australia has shipped the decals and the internal CF parts so i'm expecting them to arrive in Jeddah in the next couple of days.
I'm expecting the ESCs and MPB collets any day from Germany and then in the next few weeks the Hull from Hanspeter at HPR and a big package of stuff including the Lehners from Manuel, who has been really kind and organised me lots of parts to complete the build.
Now I have the agonising wait for the Hull, I just hope it doesn't get stuck in Saudi Customs.....

Just got the parts from Kent @ www.customcfparts.com and all I can say is wow!
The parts are of the best quality.
Kent also supplied me with a sample of the stuffing tube support bracket, which was kind - I will be sure to use this and include some photos later on in the build. Interestingly the décor mount is made form 2mm 6K carbon sheet which is a new thing Kent tells me, it looks very strong and I'm sure will fit nicely.
I cannot recommend Kent enough, the turn round was really fast, the parts delivered exactly as ordered and are superb quality.10112013935.jpg10112013937.jpg10112013938.jpg10112013939.jpg
