But not bad for making a dozen passes on this set up. Ran one mile.

Ralph you are doing a great job with this build bro, and you are keeping the build thread alive in a great way. People should get a lot out of this so thanks and keep it coming.

Oh and we really need to get together one weekend and run the darn things. I think we can learn a lot from each other

Sounds good to me, I was really disappointed today, 100 wasn't what I was looking for, should have did a two run and checked. I could have lifted the struts some as I could see it was running very flat. But was stable and a lot of people were watching. I'm at a campground, our river lot. And when the fast boats come out people watch. Surfing the web now and enjoying a fire, will have to take the drive apart after dinner. Will post the damage. I think the flex came apart at the weld. Weird I know.

Sounds like a good time Coop. Camping near the water, running 100mph boats...you're livin' the dream baby! lol

You're doing a great job with this thing and I'm sure you've learned a ton through the process.
It's going to seem easier and easier to build a fast boat, and you're only going to get better/faster from here. You are part of a very small group of boaters that achieve what MANY talk about, but few actually do.

Very much appreciate that, thank you.

Well here is today's damage. Flex broke. Location it broke seems odd to me. There should not have been any flex or strain in that location. But it would be right before the first bushing/bearing in the stinger so it may have been under strain. I believe the main reason for the failure was due to running too long. As I said above I had made about a dozen passes with this set up. It should have been about four passes and back home. Pushing everything as it is and then running for a long time just increases failure. I'm not sure if Teflon wrapped around cable or if cable got hot and pulled Teflon with it. Don't know but I'm sure it was simply from running too long. And to add I had run yesterday twice and did not pull shafts and relube. That alone was a big no no. But I did what I did and this is the reason why people always say after every day or even every run pull the shaft and relube. My fault this happened, now I have to cut and tinn another shaft. And surprisingly I was able to salvage the dog, I use red loc-tight on the drive dog and set screw. Usually just toss the whole thing as its a one and done when they break. I have thought about running no Teflon but I honestly think my failure was simply from neglect. Figure it's a high rpm set up, 1250kv on 42 volts- theoretically running 51k unloaded.

The end of running when flex let loose. I just couldn't stay into throttle. She was running a little too wet and had a very small bounce. Should have stayed in from the first running but didn't.

That's to bad. at least you built it to take some abuse. Sun setting here at the moment.

I added another bearing inside the stinger. Their might have been some whiplash going on inside that area as it is a pretty large gap with no support on the flex drive. I've always thought of that being a big gap with no support so now I've added some. For normal applications I don't think it is an issue. And I didn't get her out today as its too windy. But got four pounds of king crab legs for dinner!! They were on sale so I couldn't resist!!!

Lol!! At least you still have your prop!! They are good stingers but,,,, they can only take so much and I think we are way past that!!!! I know the next saw cat is going to get the clicks with the adapter mount. Will be a longer stinger and will be a stronger stinger. I feel your damage, hope it was just the stinger and no hull damage. :)

No real damage, just a few scuffs from the broken stinger flopping around. Click drives are the way to go, but for the money testing with these is fine for me. I figure I got about a dozen high speed passes in with them.

Ok on to the next step. I think I have her dialed in pretty close. I still have some more running to do on stock props but I can start working on some for this build. I hope I don't offend anyone or do something that others don't agree with. I'm looking for left and right props. Octura x457 will be what I'm starting with. For what I'm going to do I am thinking I'm going to end up in the 52-54 range, maybe even down to 50-52 range with increased pitch. I would like to change them up to 1.9 pitch with some cupping. So that is all speculation right now the numbers will be reflective of what the motors and esc can handle.
