In essence, is it ok to tell someone that they cannot have the kind of healthcare that would save their life because somebody might not get paid? Something is very disturbing about that. More should be done in preventative healthcare. Healthy lifestyles should be encouraged. Maybe a tax on unhealthy foodstuffs should be levied? We should have more compassion for our fellow humans than we do for our wallets.
We all agree that there should be something done. But we don't agree how. Can someone please provide some suggestions rather than political bantering?

The government hasn't done a good job running things. What makes you guys think that this is going to be better? I'm all for helping out our local citizens that cant afford it. I don't want to see people without health care. I'm not that much of a tightwad. I would pay extra taxes for this. But I want to make sure it goes to the right people. I don't know of too many projects that have been run well by the powers that be. Not sure if you guys know about the "Boston Big Dig", but it was a 2 billion job that turned into 14 billion. FULL of fraud and problems. Just one of the many projects that lined the "connected peoples" pockets.

        545 vs 300,000,000
EVERY CITIZEN NEEDS TO READ THIS AND THINK ABOUT WHAT THIS JOURNALIST HAS SCRIPTED IN THIS MESSAGE. READ IT AND THEN REALLY THINK ABOUT OUR CURRENT POLITICAL DEBACLE.

Charley Reese has been a journalist for 49 years.

        545 PEOPLE
        By Charlie Reese

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don't propose a federal budget.. The president does.

You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.

You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does.

You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does.

You and I don't control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason.. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a president to do one cotton-pickingthing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.
What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits.. The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.

The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? Nancy Pelosi. She is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million can not replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts -- of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair.

If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red ..

If the Army & Marines are in IRAQ , it's because they want them in IRAQ

If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it's because they want it that way.

There are no insoluble government problems.

Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation," or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.

They, and they alone, have the power.

They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.

Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees.

We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!

This might be funny if it weren't so darned true.
Be sure to read all the way to the end:

        Tax his tractor,

        Tax his drink,
        Tax him if he
        Tries to think.

        Tax his cigars,
        Tax his beers,
        If he cries
        Tax his tears.

        Tax his car,
        Tax his gas,
        Find other ways
        To tax his butt.

        Tax all he has
        Then let him know
        That you won't be done
        Till he has no dough.

        Then tax his coffin,
        Tax his grave,
        Tax the sod in

What happened? Can you spell 'politicians?'
And I still have to 'press 1' for English!
We need to impose term limits on congress and we need to ban political parties. Their only interest is to get re-elected!

What if you went to a doctor. He certifies you have these conditions. He receives an incentive for results if you to lose weight and quit smoking. Doesn't that sound like an actionable plan? Of course there will be exceptions.

Steven , we have a simillar project for the Winter Olympics transit project that was going to cost this and then they changed it to a cut and cover project over a tunnel project to save money. The local merchants lost their clientile and buisness...very sad.

What happened? Can you spell 'politicians?'
And I still have to 'press 1' for English!
We need to impose term limits on congress and we need to ban political parties. Their only interest is to get re-elected!

I hope this goes around THE USA at least 100 times!!! YOU can help it get there!!!
GO AHEAD - - - BE AN AMERICAN!!!
And this is why, among other reasons, I'm "Middle of the road." They have dumbed us down. Divided us for their own agendas, create the fear that grips us. And deprived us of the controls we once had over our own lives.

DUDE... do you HAVE kids?? Did you NOT catch the part where I said how involved we were with ours ("no matter how much time we spend with them outside of school..." Ya... THAT part! )

My wife and I spend HUNDREDS of hours a year with our kids outside of school helping them learn the *!***!***!***!** that we learned while IN school... We started them at 3 with private educations to give them every opportunity to get ahead... We ARE doing everything we can afford to make sure they have every opportunity they can have... MAYBE if the government wouldn't take so much in taxes, we could do more...???

I find your statements in the previous post completely out of touch with what is really happening with our school systems... and you CERTAINLY can't speak to what my wife and I have done to help educate our kids... If you did, you'd realize just how rediculous you just sounded....

And Bill... as you should know by now, if you could see past the bias you have towards what you THINK I believe... I don't disagree with EVERYTHING on the left... Never saw the Michael Moore thing, but I do find it ironic that he'll make a movie like that, and then support the side that supports those who are doing the dumming down...
