May come as a shock to some, but I COMPLETELY agree with Hillary here:
Apparently, however, this appears to only be valid when it's the Left protesting the right...Darin E. Jordan - Renton, WA

I give up. Anything to support the loser Bush. My wife has worked in Mortgages since 1985. There was NEVER the onslaught of crap loans until Bush made his wishes known in 2002!
Dude... Mine worked there in the early 90's... I WAS THERE! I remember when she came home and told me about the loans that their bosses and the underwriters were approving...
The paper trail back to Jimmy Carter goes WAY back... And again, you guys keep putting Bush up as the posterchild for conservatism! Give me a break!Mini Cat Racing USA

No, Bush is not in the white house but he was and he left us one hell of a mess. The American People have been set up by the rabid right..nothing but fear..and the big corporate money going into sponsoring the hate rallies is really egregious.
We finally have a President trying to do something FOR us rather than TO us an you just can't stand it!

I agree. But who turned their back and deregulated everything in sight! The GOP starting with Reagan. Big money made the rules and nobody would reign them in. The Dems tried during Clinton's time but the Repubs shut them out every time.
You simply cannot let people operate with no rules. I remember when Alan Greenspan said "I think we can trust the financial industry to regulate themselves" (not exact quote) NOW he says he was wrong after it's too late.
Bush didn't put us in the mess, American Greed did. All those guys in that market new what was coming. I'll never forget, it had to be more than 10 years ago when my Insurance Rep said to me, "We are going to be for some tough times, I have people buying 200-500k houses and can barely afford the down payment for the insurance." This Insurance Rep was no Einstein, but could clearly see that the wrong people were getting mortgages!Mini Cat Racing USA

A few of us saw this mess coming three or more years ago. three years ago, before the Dems regained congress, I cashed in all my stocks while they were at the top and put everything on CD's at the bank. I ain't making much interest but I haven't lost a penny either. Anyone with a brain cell could see what the Repubs were doing to us but there still seem to be a lot of people that buy into their rhetoric. Too bad. Hope they didn't lose too much.

YOUR statement was not accurate... You can educate yourself on that if you like... I don't have time to worry about it, I'm more concerned about what is happening right now... It started with the "Community Reinvestment Act of 1978", and was boosted again by Clinton in the early 90's... Bush didn't help in 2002... nor did the Dems when they "regulated" to the industry that they MUST provide these rediculous loans... or when they BLOCKED Republican efforts to put some regulation back INTO Fannie and Freddy, etc... so believe what you will, but that's what has been happening... There is plenty of blame to go around, but that's not helping anything either...Darin E. Jordan - Renton, WA

I too worked for a subprime mortgage company from 2002 to 2006. When I started there were approx. 500 employees. When I left there were over 3000+ employees. Maybe that growth spurt should give some indication of when things really got bad.
Loans were made that were just rediculous.Government Moto:

The blame game. Well lets blame Opec, since high oil put a ton of people over the edge. Then lets blame Regan, Bush 1, Clinton, Bush 2 and NOW Obama. Since Obama doesn't want to be fiscally responsible in a time of extreme bankruptcy, high unemployment and lower income. Hell, lets blame ourselves for wanting things we cant afford and overspending on Mortgages, Car loans, Credit cards and such. Lets also blame ourselves for living in a country where its a "right" to have what the other guy has and a right to live in a neighborhood where another guy lives(search Massachusetts 40b laws).
Or lets just stop blaming everyone and vote out these lifers and put in some normal "joes".Steven Vaccaro
