Well.. I kind of took it personally, sorry...
I send my kids to school to learn the same basics we were taught when we were kids... unfortunately, the "everybody wins" mentality of our increasingly liberal education doesn't cut it anylonger, and we, as parents must increasingly take over to make SURE we have independent thinkers...
I think what really upsets me is that WE are paying for this. If they'd let us keep our money and select the education we want for our kids ourselves (i.e.: vouchers, etc...), then they could do whatever they want with the public schools... but that's another argument all together...Darin E. OK, but WHO is determining what is considered "meaninful"???
In 1992, the Fannie May "regulation" reform was in part to "regulate" (force) the institutions to provide MORE low interest "affordable" loans and "regulate" (force) to the banks that they MUST provide loans to those who essentially couldn't afford them... THAT is a BIG part of what has caused this mess in the first place.... That's "meaningful" alright...
Where is the part where the Dems BLOCKED the measures that the Republicans were trying to put into place to help prevent this from happening??? (we don't really need to bring up all those YouTube clips again, right???)

Do your homework. My wife works in the Mortgage industry. She remembers very well that in June, 2002 GEORGE W. BUSH issued a statement from the white house saying "everyone should be able to own a home" and that HE wanted the mortgage rules relaxed.
"In June 2002, President Bush issued America's Homeownership Challenge to the real estate and mortgage finance industries to encourage them to join the effort to close the gap that exists between the homeownership rates of minorities and non-minorities. The President also announced the goal of increasing the number of minority homeowners by at least 5.5%."
My wife remembers that THAT is when the liar loans and the bad loans started. Fannie and Freddie up to that point would buy nothing but A++ paper, people with excellent credit and at least 20% down.
It's amazing to me how the GOP and your bloviators can twist and turn and distort and lie about the facts. It took me all of 1 minute to google the truth. Try it some time.Mini Cat Racing USA

NO, what is silly is saying you know and do not like what he said in the movie "Sicko" without having actually seen the movie. I was not a fan of Bowling either, but Sicko made some very good points the most important being that the government (meaning both the Dems and Repubs) essentially want to keep us stupid, sick, and scared in order to make it easier to control us.
One great line from the movie was when he was in France and one of the people he speaks with (a Frenchman) says that the main difference between the US and France is that in the US the people fear the government and in France the government fears the people.
I guess I am saying to try to separate the message from the messenger.Don't get me started

Dude... Mine worked there in the early 90's... I WAS THERE! I remember when she came home and told me about the loans that their bosses and the underwriters were approving...Do your homework.
