Here's a Video of after the hull mod. even running some rough spots it gathers itself up pretty good now. Most of the times it was out of the water 4 or 5 inches it would have been blown over before, now it settles back down. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkeoe...ature=youtu.be

How I did the hull mod.
If you look on the inside of the hull where the cutouts are, you'll see a chanel. You'll need to block off the front side of the chanel on each side, I just used tape. Then I took 1 1/2oz mixed of Zap 30 min epoxy and 1/2oz of milled fiberglass, mixed it all up and poured each chanel. I set the hull so the chanel was full to the top at the front side and tapered to nothing at the back side. You'll have to judge how deep you need to make it, I did each side seperate. After the epoxy set I used a carbide burr usually used for aluminum (Coarse fluted) on a die grinder and basicly routered the sections out, I went back strait to 2 1/2" then angled to nothing at 3 1/2". On the rear end of the cutout I angled the taper to the outside to help funnel the air out from under the hull. After the Die Grinder I hand sanded with 220grit paper, if you're careful you can do this without hurting any paint except right where the cutouts are. As you can see, all I need to do is touch up the paint on the cutouts. Hope this helps you guys, feel free to PM me any questions you may have.Comment

That is radical and very inovative.
Where is your strut set at, I seem to have the opposite of what some of you are experiencing. I will raise the strut as high as I can, and then do the mod Doby showed to see if I can raise the front more. I have never had blown over. it runs wet but super stable.
I like your video. you got some good chops!Too many boats, not enough time...Comment

Over 60!
yes, I can see how it gets settled down !
I have not measured my speed, but it's not even in the 50's, I was fooling around with props and forgot to bring the correct sized hex drive to adjust the strut which i did tonight. I want to go to a 2200kv motor which was my intention but presently using a 2000kv with wrong timing, I thought was "d" but apparently it's a "Y". Not that it will speed up that much.Too many boats, not enough time...Comment

Sometimes simple ain't the way to go, look how deep the air traps are on this boat and then look at other boats. I've never seen traps as deep on any other boat, my thought was it was packing way too much air and I'm pretty sure I just proved it. It was a gamble but it worked and I'm sure that to make this boat competative it needed to be done. I may even put a air dam on it too but I'm going to do some more strut adjusting first, we'll see how it goesLast edited by flraptor07; 01-28-2014, 01:57 PM.Comment

My Insane FE30 has no air traps - and has never blown off the water. My Miss Vegas Deuce FE conversion has air traps about quarter inch deep - with a few blow offs and generally unstable at speed. I know we all like to tinker with our boats, but such radical surgery on Popeye suggests the contemporary design is being pushed to (its) limit. Me thinks Doby has his settings just right!FE30, Kintec Pursuit, Revolt 30, ML GP400 V2, Blackjack 29 (RIP), HK Outer LimitsComment
