    Refuse the box exists!

I got a chance to run the No Step 1 again yesterday. I ran it before on Friday if I recall correctly. Anyway, it now features OSE carbon fiber turn fins which are working quite well. Setup is Cuda 80, Lehner XL 5000kv, 2s1p capable of 125A continuous, RX pack, .130 to 1/8", Solinger H/W.

When I ran it on Friday, I ran a x435 and it ran OK, but only reached speeds of 30mph or so. Yesterday, I put a Grim 36 x 55 and managed 32mph. I'm not sure where to go with this and I don't have any experience with a mono. Next I'm going to try moving the strut down a little as egneg graciously suggested one day at the pond, but it seems that there is very little adjustment in this direction.

I have to say I'm a little lost. When Drobie had this boat, it was doing 40-42mph on two 6-cell NiMH packs in parallel and even though I've tried some 2s2p setups on the same motor, I haven't been able to repeat this success even with the exact same props he was using on the hull. The only time I got it to run faster is when I mistakenly wired the 7s motor to 4s1p instead of 2s2p. Then it ran great and stable, so I know the hull is capable, it's just something with the setup.

I'm hoping one of you guys can help me loosen this thing up and get some more speed out of it. My only other option is to start turning the trim tabs down and angle the strut up in the back on the prop side. Next I guess I could start playing with the timing, but I don't want to cook everything if there's something else going on. I don't know what else to do.

    Any ideas?

        Hey Dirty,
Please tell me how to get more "throw" in my bathroom sink pop-up stopper. It is annoying me to no end.

Thought I would go to the pond for a short run this afternoon. It ended up to be much shorter than I planned. First the drive stub separated from the wire and I lost a Prather 220S less than a minute into the run with the XS2. Then on the Hurricane cat the u-joint blew apart at a little over a minute of run time. The only thing that ran well was the jet ski/rescue boat and the Dirty hook.

Egneg, sorry to hear about your poor luck. The 220 was stainless right? My wife and I are planning on picking up some kayaks. If we do, I can use Diego's magnet to see if we can pick it up if you'd like. Do you know where it went down?

I ran the Blizzard yesterday on Prather 215. I have to adjust the pushrod, but it did in the low 40's. I'm thinking it should be much faster than this on that prop. I'm baffled, but have a few ideas on what to try. It turns like it's on rails though! Run was short due to melting solder on the red lead of the Cuda 80. This makes the second time now this has happened. The last time was on a detongued y535 so there must be something else at play, such as the incompatible solder with the manufacturer. I'll figure it out.

I appreciate the offer but it would be like trying to find a needle in a haystack. I am sure you would find shopping carts and a bunch of other junk but no prop. I ordered one from OSE along with an eagle tree v3 (70v-150a) e-logger, lcd panel, rpm sensor, and a couple of temp sensors. The stuff should be here this week. The next time we get together we can all try it out and I will bring a laptop as well.

A magnet will not pick up stainless steel.

It depends on the type of SS. 300 series contains nickel and is not magnetic and 400 series doesn't contain nickel and is magnetic. Prather props are 400 series SS and can be picked up with a magnet.
