True, I didn't really take that into consideration. So you're only turning 30k rpm? LOL, just kidding with ya!
I wonder how much slip they have to deal with.IMPBA: 7-Time FE World Record Holder "Don't think outside the box. Rather, refuse to admit that the box exists in the first place!"

Who knows?!?! It may double as recovery as well as "ZIPping" by your Warrior!
If it does serve as recovery, then Jeff and I won't have to share the Gorilla when I get done building it. He's the one that really needs a recovery boat. That way, he can burn through the remaining fuel he has and go brushless. At least that's what he says his plans are. Thing is though, I think he likes that nitro station Dirty gave to him.
Another topic, I got the rigger done last night and tub tested. I'm hoping that if the wind dies down a little later, then I'll get the first test run in. I'm still not sure on the prop, but we'll see how it goes.Last edited by Meniscus; 06-11-2009, 03:35 PM.IMPBA: 7-Time FE World Record Holder "Don't think outside the box. I tried the rigger last night, but it did not go well. I launched her and only made it 15-20 feet before she got snagged on some subsurface debris. Then came the dreaded sound of the motor spinning freely. You guessed it, the coupler didn't hold. I lost her in a very bad spot and ended up going through thick brush in the only place that it is like this on my pond. With the help of my extension pole, I got her back, but it wasn't easy.
When I got her back, the driveline was 75% out and had the prop still attached. Whew, that's too close for comfort!
An aside, I put on the V935/3 before I went out and wound her up a little. When I did, she vibrated and chattered like crazy. The strut shook nearly 3/8" from side to side. I guess maybe I bent one of the blades? But I don't know how. Maybe something else is at play. When I put the 2 blader on her, there was no vibration at all. No binding in the driveline, had appropriate distance between drive dog and strut, etc. etc., so I don't know why this is happening. Any thoughts?Last edited by Meniscus; 06-12-2009, 10:15 PM.IMPBA: 7-Time FE World Record Holder "Don't think outside the box. Rather, refuse to admit that the box exists in the first place!"

OK, I got a test run in on the rigger. It ran rather well on my Y535 => not the one that is detongued. I'd say by visual, the speed was around 37-38, but she was running pretty wet. I still have an issue though, after about 7-8 laps, no power. I had to wait for the wind to bring it back, then fishing pole, then hook. I've got to get the rescue boat going! LOL
It had water in the hull when it came back. I believe the receiver was submerged and or RX batteries were. Anyway, I opened up the receiver and it was dry inside. I hooked up another RX and the whole system worked no problem. Just to be sure, I'm going to let it dry for a few days.
So, I guess I have a leak somewhere or it's getting in the tube. I did the tub test. I guess I'll try again.
Egneg, would you mind looking at this V935/3 for me? I guess maybe I hit something and bent it when I ran it on the Renegade that time. It doesn't look bad, but I must have done something. Also, what prop might you suggest for this thing? It's 22.5 inches in length, 4s1p 540-size motor, 2300 kv, but I don't know the overall weight. I sure would like some input from someone with experience and you know I'm the idiot. Thanks!IMPBA: 7-Time FE World Record Holder "Don't think outside the box. LOL, we can do that. I've got plenty of charcoal and some hickory chips if we decide to do chicken as well. I'll buy the burgers and buns. Someone else could pickup some chicken thighs that can slow cook and smoke. Other than that, we need fixins!
I'm not sure when everyone else is available. This Sat and Sun are out for me. On Saturday, we're the headliner band at the oceanfront 17th street stage and at the present moment, there is discussion of another gig that afternoon. I'll work around everyone else's schedule. I may be available early Sunday afternoon and then on through 5pm. I'll see if anything else is going on with the wife! LOL
I didn't manage to get a run in this weekend due to it being very, very windy in my neck of the woods. I did get a chance to test the zigzag with a tow line and a Dirty counterfeit rescue hook. Seemed to work well. We'll see how it works when actually deployed and retrieving.IMPBA: 7-Time FE World Record Holder "Don't think outside the box. ...then we'll just have to schedule it for sometime after that date. Hopefully Dirty will stop by & spend his alloted 15min with us too!"A quick temper will make a fool of you soon enough."

Sounds good to me! If Dirty comes by, he's more than welcome to run one of my boats if he'd like! Or for that matter, all of them, as long as I get to run something
A quick update: I looked into shirts and so forth regarding logo screenprinting, etc. For the small quantities, all of my contacts came back with astronomical pricing, but that is to be expected. I only deal with these contacts when it comes to quantities starting at 300 on up. Maybe we'll have to cut a template and spraypaint them, LMAO!
Egneg, I've got my weekends tied up as well for the next several weeks, but I'd like to arrange it so you could meet with the husband/wife prop folks, even if I can't make it. I guess we'll try that after the 18th. Perhaps I could invite them to the cookout, I'll cover any of the additional cost of food and I was already planning on contributing the meat and buns. This time we'll have to slice up some green peppers and onions!
Diego, do you think you can have your wife's boat ready to go then too? If you need a motor, I don't think the Blackjack will be done with paint by then, you're more than welcome to use that motor with one of the 4s packs you have or one of the 2s packs I have depending on the KV.IMPBA: 7-Time FE World Record Holder "Don't think outside the box. Never fear! As you may or may not know I am quite handy with an airbrush and have textile paints (including hot pink). Once we agree on a logo I can cut stencils and wallah ... t's with the club logo!IMPBA 20481S D-12Comment

Cool!!! I can't wait! Thanks Egneg.
Well, I got home, the wife wasn't here, so of course I got a boat ready and went to the pond behind my place. Water was calm, for once, and took her for a spin for the first time on that CMDI x642 prop I picked up a while ago. She was starting to warm up around 38-40 at roughly 2/5th throttle, then she started to pickup speed. At 1/2 throttle she was doing about 43, judged by eye, and the rooster tail was starting to come up. So, I went a little further at lap 4 and pushed it to 3/4th throttle. She was going every bit of 50 and starting to dance around. As I started to go just a little further on the throttle and she was pushing 53-54 or so in the straight. Then I heard that dreaded sound...
...the motor was spinning freely. When I got it back, no prop and the wire drive was broken about 3 1/2" from the coupler.
So, I've got no idea what size the wire is and while inspecting the issue, I dropped the remaining wire in the grass! More frustration!!!
I guess I'm shopping for a new prop and the biggest size wire I can muster in the thing. Meanwhile, I need a GPS so I don't have to judge by eye.IMPBA: 7-Time FE World Record Holder "Don't think outside the box. Rather, refuse to admit that the box exists in the first place!"

Without a witness or a GPS, I can't claim 50
Man, the rooster tail was 3 1/2 to 4 foot off of the water and it is truly amazing how fast it covers the straights at 1.5 to 2 seconds tops. Sorry, I'm just a little excited!!!

Sorry to hear that Meniscus. I know the viper could run in the 50's easily with the right prop. (shame you lost it) I have an ammo 2300 for my wife's boat, no ESC though.
Egneg,
Whatever you come up with for a logo is cool by me.
Dirty,
Please come by! Even if for a minute. Just to say "Hi" I won't drill you with any questions, Promise!"A quick temper will make a fool of you soon enough."
