    Spartan .187 drive cable

I just got 2 .187 drive cables from Jeff wholt , they are alittle bigger i'n diameter than the stock, which I knew... But I heard i'n here someone mentioned to take the Teflon liner out and it'll fit? Along with using quite a bit if speed grease? Thoughts?

      Yep, that's the ticket.

The nice thing about the Spartan is, if you do wear through the stuffing tube over time, it is inexpensive and easy to replace because it isn't glued into the hull.

True thts what I figured already have one extra..... Just waiting on some hardware and some wire & connectors and I should be able to finish building the thing...the only other thing I might do is use 4 ,4000 mah turnigy lipos i'n series/ parallel but well see may be alittle heavy.... But not to concerned about it.... Although boats being heavy are slot different than a car being heavy.... Lol

There is a school of thought that a little extra weight might help stabilize this boat.

It would likely cost you a bit of top end speed, but if you are looking for longer run times and stability, rather than breaking speed records, it might be a good set up.

I'm going to try the same when we finally get some liquid water around here.

I can't see it would fit, I'm pretty certain a new Collet will be necessary. 5mm motor shaft to .187 flex.

o..std is 150 so 187 needs a new coupler. More cable coming today...was out of 150. An 078 wire does very well on these also.V

                    Jeff,

When going to the wire drive do you need to change anything on the stuffing tube?

                    New tube?? or different liner??

                    Thanks

I think I would try it on stock liner. Most of that is metric so hard to fit new stuff.

Hi Jeff Wohlt I have a question , I receive the 150 drive cable from you , but is thinner then the stock cable that came with the spartan , is that normal ? also is loose inside the liner do i need another liner that will accommodate the new cable , thanks in advance .

Nope...run it as is. I think the Octura cable is stronger. 150 is actually about 147.

                              That is interesting.

Checking the Spartan flex cable with a caliper three or four places along the length it is dialing in at a true .150 - .151 diameter. (3.82mm).

Not that 3 one thousandths is very significant on a flex cable.
