Yep...if they are breaking on 4s then there are other issues.

I'm guessing here, but unless folks are running high Kv motors, or pushing very large props, a good quality .150 cable should suffice.
With all the other issues the Spartan has had, I find it hard to default my confidence to the stock cable being manufactured to a high quality standard.
I have a couple of Jeffs .150 cables on the way and will give them a chance to prove themselves. If they don't hold up, I will switch to .187 or consider a piano wire drive.
As for rust on the cable, if you are doing proper drive line maintenance, cleaning the flex cable after running, storing the boat with fresh grease on the cable, and making sure the cable is well greased while running. I would think rust should be a fairly minor concern. But as previously stated, I'm not willing to place a lot of faith in the quality of the stock components in this boat.
