      Maybe the stock cable is too tight in the liner.

        They are breaking on 6s from what i understand it seems rust gets in between the wire add stress to that , and snap , so far I had no problem with the stock cable , but I thought I would upgrade anyways maybe I should had bought the 182

            I'm guessing here, but unless folks are running high Kv motors, or pushing very large props, a good quality .150 cable should suffice.

            With all the other issues the Spartan has had, I find it hard to default my confidence to the stock cable being manufactured to a high quality standard.

            I have a couple of Jeffs .150 cables on the way and will give them a chance to prove themselves. If they don't hold up, I will switch to .187 or consider a piano wire drive.

            As for rust on the cable, if you are doing proper drive line maintenance, cleaning the flex cable after running, storing the boat with fresh grease on the cable, and making sure the cable is well greased while running. I would think rust should be a fairly minor concern. But as previously stated, I'm not willing to place a lot of faith in the quality of the stock components in this boat.
