    Perspective from a newbie...

I've owned a tunnel hull in the past (nitro), that failed, as it was just more than I could deal w/. After that, I picked up a Traxxas Villan which was fun, but probably brought about global warming all on its own.

Both boats got me on the water - (1) had more than I could handle, and the 2nd just didn't have enough; enter the Titan, and FE comes to life for a guy that doesn't know enough to grab the perfect setup or pick the right stuff.

I just put a Titan on order, and I am sure this boat will pull a following, as with all Traxxas products, they make it easy for guys like me who have never went this route. Will it be the fastest, the best, the most technologically driven? Probably not, but from what I have been seeing & reading, it's darn close, and I am sure a few will be showing up at the lakes for a race - I know I will! :)

Regardless, no matter what, I really think this boat has a lot to offer, and I look forward to seeing how it performs - I know it will have more than I can handle, and when I reach its limits, I'll check back here to see what the speed freaks are doing to make it even quicker!
    God bless - "Rare Bear"

Interesting you should mention this, because it was a topic of conversation between the ProBoat Product Development Manager and me when we were discussing power for the Stiletto... Neither of us were interested in putting a boat into the hands of a bunch of excited "newbies" that would then end up either hurting someone or something, or being returned in ashes... The standard equipement has to be a RESPONSIBLE package, and one that can be stood behind, quite frankly...

Once you start swapping motors, over-volting the ESCS (like 6S on a 45-amp BJ26 ESC... ) etc., you are on your own.

COULD we have made the Stiletto a 50mph boat out of the box... without a doubt... Likely using the STOCK ProBoat BJ26 motor in fact... But would most people be able to drive it, or keep it running for more than a run or two... NOPE...

Darin, you are cracking me up(first comment not the one you just posted). Enjoyed the comments and I agree. Yes, I am curious to see if they (Traxxas) can really do the claimed 50+ out of the box with just a set of 3s batteries and have it all still hold together. I guess we wil all know the answer to that question soon.

IF they do, it is something to note. The way I look at it. The SV was a huge break though boat(got me started in the hobby) because it was the first time you could buy a RTR for a cheap price that was 35+ out of the box. I am wondering whether this Traxxas will be like that or not at 50+.

You can bet I will be hooking a datalogger to one of them and seeing if it is true.

Good Point. My first boat was the SV and for awhile my brother and I were a train wreck waiting to happen. It takes some time to get used to the handling, the speed, and how the boat performs when you first start out. Anything faster would have just made it more likely we crashed the boat(more often) or hurt ourselves! When the SV's came out, I saw a number of for sale's for SV boats and all of them were damaged from running ashore at full speed or into something. I know why. The learning curve.

The truth is, where I run, 40mph is a good speed because it is a narrower body of water. We have a lot of fun racing on a tight oval at those speeds.

i personally think thats the reason why they will come equipped with nihm's,so the new boater can enjoy and get used to the handling of the titan.after he or she has gotten accustomed to its handling characteristics, then they will upgrade to lipos.i remember the first time i ran my fastech nitro last year,it took awhile to get used to the handling, especially when the conditions change.35mph was a handful, especially under different conditions.

Titan or King of Shaves P1

These look good, I wish the hull came without logos. I'm leaning toward the King of Shaves P1 its not as fast but it looks more stable and with a deeper V-hull. The Titan looks to roll side to side a lot, where the King of Shaves P1 looks like it cuts through waves pretty well, plus I really like replica's of real P1 V-hulls, or C1 cats. I'd like the Titan, but I don't want to have to hunt down a pond that is like glass. Need to see more vids of the Titan.

Venom is junk, and everthing is imported
the reason the P1 looks better is because its going half as fast

V hulls traveling at speed tend to chine walk....thats what they do, even custom built Delta Forces do the same in glass water or chop.

Minicatracing?,Aeromarine,Bonzi and some other boat hull companys but all the major brands, batterys and parts accessorys are all forgeign made.

The list is even shorter for land and Air based RC.

I have to agree with the better looks of the p-1. I'm not a big fan of flashy, stripey, ("look at me!") paint jobs. I hope the p-1 out-runner fares better than the c-1 in-runners. I think I might be the only guy left who hasnt dropped his order for the p-1. Still really like the features of the titan though!

So, becuase i don't know much about Lipo's, 6S means that the boat is running 2 3S lipo packs?? When i get this boat it just may push me into lipo's!
